Indiana Basketball Source provides games notes on a handful of sectional games.

DeKalb vs. Snider

DeKalb used a barrage of three-pointers in the second quarter to climb out of a hole against Snider. Logan Kruse, Indiana Wesleyan commitment, led the charge. Keontre Brown and Jonqwell Lee buried a couple of late threes to tie the game at halftime.

In a back and forth game, Kruse dominated the second half. He attacked the basket and lived at the free throw line. His late free throws sealed the game for DeKalb. Keontre Brown and Dillon Duff tried to push Snider to a victory, but Brown’s three-point attempt was off the mark at the buzzer.

DeKalb won 67-64. Logan Kruse finished with 33 points in the win. Keontre Brown had 25 while Dillon Duff added 13 in the loss.

Cathedral vs. Lawrence North

Armaan Franklin played well early for Cathedral, but Lawrence North held a lead after one quarter. He was able to take the ball to the rim and finish in traffic in the second quarter. The 2019 guard had 16 points in the first half.

Lawrence North was able to take a 27-23 to the locker room behind 13 points from Jared Hankins. He was locked in from behind the arc. Hankins finished with 22 points for the Wildcats.

LN built a double-figure lead in the third quarter. Hankins hit a triple then Perkins scored four straight points to give Lawrence North an 11-point lead. The Lawrence North margin stretched to 15 points in the fourth quarter.

Lawrence North worked the clock in the fourth quarter then weathered a comeback attempt by Cathedral. Armaan Franklin was leading the charge for the Irish. He was knocking down three-pointers, attacking the basket and fighting for every rebound.

LN had enough poise to hold off Cathedral. Kevin Easley and Mike Saunders Jr. sealed the game with a few buckets late. Lawrence North won 71-63. Easley finished with 20 points in the win. Armaan Franklin tallied 33 points in the loss.

Evansville Memorial vs. Heritage Hills

It was the Dylan Penn Show from the start for Memorial. He hit two early three-pointers on his way to 10 points in a high-scoring opening quarter. Simon Scherry and Michel Becher matched Penn’s early output for Heritage Hills. Blake Sisley and Murray Becher tried to keep HH in the game, but Penn and Michael Lindauer poured in points. Penn finished with 27 points and eight rebounds in the victory.

Guerin Catholic vs. Chatard

Guerin Catholic opened a big lead early, but Chatard made in a game in the third quarter. The Trojans outscored Guerin 21-13 in the frame. Cody Albin was strong from start to finish for Chatard, but Jack Hansen, Zach Munson and Kian Sills proved to be too much. The Golden Eagles pulled away for the 71-51 victory. Hansen, IUPUI commitment, scored 19 points. Albin had 19 points as well.

Westivew vs. Prairie Heights

Westview dominated from the tip. The Warriors outscored Prairie Heights 19-2 in the first quarter. Elijah Hales scored 25 points in the 62-31 victory. Charlie Yoder added 20 points.

Southwood vs. Clinton Central

Southwood poured in 40 points in the opening quarter. 40 points in an eight minute quarter is insane. Needless to say, Southwood won. It ended 97-31. It will be interesting to see if any bad habits or false confidence sets in for Southwood heading to a match-up against Lafayette Central Catholic.

Warren Central vs. Indianapolis Tech

Tech stayed with the undefeated Warriors for a half. It was 25-18 at halftime in the favor of Warren Central. WC pulled away in the second half to win 57-34.
