Barr-Reeve and Morristown weren't expected to be playing in Seymour with a shot to go to the 1A state title game. But the teams found their way through a difficult field to make it to the final four.

After a slow start for both teams, Morristown jumped out to a 16-6 lead as Logan Laster and Eli Streeval knocked down three-pointers. Hayden Langkabel picked up his second foul shortly after that. With Morristown’s leading scorer on the bench, Barr-Reeve started to cut into the lead.

Quentin Yoder replaced Keegan O’Neill in the first quarter after O’Neill picked up two fouls. Yoder found open spots around the basket in the second half. He scored seven points as Barr-Reeve mounted a comeback.

At the end of the first half, Barr-Reeve was working the clock for the last shot when Langkabel jumped the passing lane for the steal. He took the ball to the rim for a two-hand dunk plus the foul that sent the entire crowd of 8,100 people into a frenzy. It gave Morristown a three-point lead.

Unfortunately for Morristown, Barr-Reeve was able to get the ball down court quickly to find Austin Ainscough for a wing three-pointer. Ainscough had an excellent first half scoring 10 points. The buzzer-beater sent the teams to halftime tied at 30.

Barr-Reeve came out of the locker room on a mission to get the ball into the paint. Keegan O’Neill missed most of the first half with foul trouble. The Vikings made it a point to get him the ball early in the second half. It worked well as Barr-Reeve went on an 11-3 run to open the third quarter.

The second half was played at a much higher pace than the first. Logan Laster helped get Morristown back on its feet. He hand his hand in most plays and hit the offensive glass as well. He finished with 19 points.

From late in the third quarter till the end of the game, Hayden Langkabel dominated. He scored 21 of his game-high 29 points in the second half. Barr-Reeve didn’t have an answer for him slashing to the basket. He does a great job of avoid defenders on his way to the basket as well.

Isaac Wagler made plays to keep Barr-Reeve close down the stretch, but it wasn’t enough. Morristown captured the 1A South Semi-State by the score of 77-70.

Eli Streeval added 15 points for Morristown. Trevon Carlton finished with 10.

Austin Ainscough led Barr-Reeve with 19 points. Isaac Wagler tallied 16, and Keegan O’Neill had 12.
