In a battle between future Indiana University teammates, Trayce Jackson-Davis and his Center Grove Trojans used a big fourth quarter to rally from a ten point deficit and defeat Armaan Franklin and the Irish of Cathedral. Jackson-Davis, who committed to Indiana earlier in the day, ended with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds.
While the headliners were the two seniors going to play at IU, it was a freshman who took center stage for the majority of the game, as Tayshawn Comer led the Irish with 17 points and also handed out six assists. Comer was able to break down the defense via the dribble and finish at the rim. His play helped Cathedral build a ten point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Trayce Jackson-Davis and his younger brother Tayven combined for 14 of Center Grove’s 23 points in the final stanza, including the game-winning three from Tayven with just over 20 seconds remaining. Justin DeGraaf added 14 points for Center Grove in the victory.
Armaan Franklin battled foul trouble all night to finish with 13 points, while senior guard Justin Hensley added 12 on four three-pointers.
