Warren Central guard Isiah Moore hit a three-pointer on the opening possession and he didn’t slow down the rest of the game as the Warriors dominated Cathedral. (Pictured: Isiah Moore)
Moore connected on three three-pointers in the first quarter to push Warren Central to an early lead. For the game, Moore hit six of eight three-point attempts to lead Warren Central with 24 points. University of Indianapolis signee Jesse Bingham was also a key to Warren’s early success. He scored eight points in the opening period and rebounded well.
Cathedral entered Friday night’s match-up as the seventh-ranked team in Indiana Basketball Source’s 4A rankings. But the Irish were never competitive with Warren Central. James Franklin kept it close in the opening minutes with a couple three-pointers, and Haven Montefalco converted a layup to make it 21-14 in the second quarter, but that’s the closest the game would get.
Warren Central’s defense is dominant once again. Indiana University signee Armaan Franklin couldn’t get on track until late in the game. Bingham, Jakobie Robinson, and company did a good job of making Franklin score over and through them. Robinson made a huge impact on the game with his rebounding, passing, and defense.
Warren’s lead stretched to 25 points late in the fourth quarter as Cathedral’s offense stalled. Cathedral had 18 turnovers to four assists by my stats and shot an eFG% of 48.8%.
Warren Central moved its winning streak to 35 games with the 69-47 victory. The Warriors are 3-0, and David Bell hasn’t played in a game yet. He’ll return in January.
Cathedral dropped to 2-2 and must regroup to play Zionsville at the FORUM Tipoff Classic Saturday.
