Warren Central used their patented suffocating defense in the second half to turn a competitive game into a blowout victory over Decatur Central Tuesday night. Four Warriors scored in double figures, led by guard Isiah Moore’s 14 points.

The top-ranked Warriors jumped out to a quick 10-2 advantage in a free-flowing first quarter thanks to three-pointers from Malik Stanley, Isiah Moore, and Jakobie Robinson. Their lead would reach 13 in the second quarter, at 25-12, before a 10-0 run by Decatur Central cut the deficit to three. Ryan Bostic would hit a pair of three-pointers in the quarter for the Hawks. Jakobie Robinson rebounded his own miss to end the run and start an 8-2 spurt to send the hosts into halftime with a nine-point lead.

The second half was complete dominance from the defending 4A champs. Turning the pressure up defensively, Warren Central made getting anything accomplished on the offensive end difficult for Decatur Central. The Warriors showed nice passing chemistry, as David Bell connected with Jakobie Robinson on several cuts through the lane for buckets, and a high low game with Jesse Bingham helped Warren turn a nine-point lead at the break into a 25 point cushion after three periods.

The defense showed no mercy in the fourth quarter, as Warren Central held the visitors without a point for the first 7:25 of the frame, before a Nehemiah Jones three-pointer, would end a 19-0 run by Warren Central. The Hawks were held to under 25% shooting from the field, while Warren Central hit eight three-pointers on the night. The Warriors got great production from their bench, as Malik Stanley and Manuel Brown scored 21 of their 29 bench points on the night.
