In the rubber match of the 2018-2019 season, Lawrence Central attacked from the tip to win Sectional 10 over Warren Central.

Jakobie Robinson knocked down a three-pointer on a feed from Shawn Beeler on the first possession of the game. On the other end, D’Andre Davis started the scoring for Lawrence Central. From there, it was a slugfest. Davis scored four of the first six points for Lawrence Central.  Jacob LaRavia helped the Bears go on a 10-0 run with his rebounding, passing, and then he punched a dunk home as well.

Warren Central has answered the bell for the last two years, and that’s what the Warriors did when trailing 12-4. Beeler hit a three-pointer and Manuel Brown scored in the lane to bring Warren Central within 12-11 late in the first quarter.

After not scoring in the first quarter, Jesse Bingham drove to the basket for a score. Davis answered with a three-point play before Bingham scored going to the rim again. His second score brought Warren Central within 19-15. A couple minutes later, Manuel Brown connected on a three to give the Warriors the 20-19 advantage.

From there, Nijel Pack took over. He buried back to back three-pointers and added a runner later in the period. Pack impacted the game in all phases in the first half. He rebounded from his game position, defended at a high level, set-up his teammates, and scored from all over the floor.

Despite Pack’s shooting, Warren Central matched Lawrence Central thanks to Isiah Moore. The senior guard seemed to hit a shot every time that Pack did. He scored seven points in the frame.

It was 30-30 at halftime.

The second half started under dicey circumstances for Lawrence Central as D’Andre Davis picked up two fouls in the first two minutes giving him four total fouls. The Bears had a two-point lead at that point.

With Davis on the bench, LaRavia helped pick up the slack. He scored a bucket and split a pair of free throws immediately after Davis left the game. That seemed to right the ship for Lawrence Central.

Up three to begin the final quarter, Nijel Pack took over the game for Lawrence Central early in the fourth quarter. He hit a floater to start the period. Then he connected on a three-pointer before setting Wesley Jordan up for a dunk. After that spurt was complete, the Bears were up 10 points.

David Bell attacked the rim for a basket, and Jakobie Robinson converted three free throws after being fouled on an outside shot. Other than that, Warren Central was never able to recover from the Pack spurt.

Nijel Pack finished with 25 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. D’Andre Davis added 16 points including plenty of late free throws. Jake LaRavia recorded 13 points and eight rebounds. Wesley Jordan had eight points and nine rebounds. Xavier DelRel and PJ Edwards had three and two points, respectively.

Isiah Moore led Warren Central with 14 points. Jakobie Robinson added 10, and Jesse Bingham scored seven. Malik Stanley had eight points. David Bell finished with five points and four rebounds.
