In a key Summit Athletic Conference game, Bishop Luers used a big game from Naylon Thompson to defeat Snider in a barnburner. (Pictured: Naylon Thompson)

Snider guard Michael Eley scored on the first possession of the game. In fact, Eley scored nine of Snider's first 13 points. Snider was able to grab a quick nine-point lead. But Naylon Thompson wouldn't allow the lead to extend. Thompson scored eight of the first 10 Luers points.

The first quarter was played at an incredible pace. Each team was scoring on nearly every possession. For Luers, Naylon and Nick Thompson scored 18 of the 20 points. Despite that, Snider led 27-20 after the first stanza.

Luers used an 8-0 run at the end of the first into the second quarter. Eley and Dillon Duff provided most of the offense for Snider in the opening half. Duff battled a couple quick fouls before getting on track. Duff scored eight in the first half while Eley had 15 including a late dunk.

The third quarter was back and forth with players like Demarcus Hudson, John Peterson, Jalen Causey, and Naylon Thompson making plays for Luers. The Knights ended the third on a 10-0 run which put Luers up nine points.

The Luers lead extended to 12 points on a bucket from Landon Moore. The margin remained double figures until Eley scored at the basket then added two free throws a minute later. Duff took over from there. The senior scored 10 points over the next two minutes and 24 seconds. His tenth point of that run was a two-handed alley oop dunk from Eley.

With the game tied and under two minutes left, Hudson scored to give Luers the lead on an and-one play. Snider answered with a Duff score at the basket from a set play.

Down one, Snider was forced to foul Moore with 18 seconds left. He missed both free throws but the ball went out of bounds off Snider. Causey was fouled and proceeded to make two free throws. After a timeout, Snider turned the ball over, and Causey iced the game with two more free throws with 3.5 seconds left.

Luers won 79-74. Naylon Thompson led the Knights with 24 points and five rebounds. Demarcus Hudson scored 11 of his 13 points after halftime. Jalen Causey finished with 12 points. John Peterson and Nick Thompson each had 10 points. Landon Moore added eight points and five assists.

Dillon Duff led Snider with 28 points and 11 rebounds. He was 10-15 from the field and 8-8 from the line. Eley tallied 25 points and five rebounds. Isaac Farnsworth had nine, and Aidan Lambert scored seven.
