Per the IndyStar's Kyle Neddenriep, Brian Hahn has resigned his head coaching position at North Central. Hahn only coached the Panthers for two seasons after nine years at Pendleton Heights. He was a skills trainer between the two stops.
Over the last few years, North Central hasn't had its most talented teams, but it never seemed to fully click for Hahn at North Central. This season, he had star sophomore Leland Walker and Army signee Charlie Peterson, but the Panthers went 12-10. They were playing their best basketball late in the season as they beat Lawerence North, Pike, and Carroll plus took Warren Central and Lawrence Central down to the wire. There were definitely positives for Hahn and North Central heading into next season.
North Central went 7-15 in the final season of legendary coach Doug Mitchell. Then the Panthers went 7-17 in Hahn's first season.
North Central is regarded as one of the top programs in the state. The talent in North Central's district is second to none. Because of that, coaches from all around will be pursuing the position. Keeping that talent at North Central is one of the biggest jobs of the head coach. One person that could fit that description is 1999 Mr. Basketball Jason Gardner. He is a graduate of North Central and helped the Panthers win the 1999 state title. The only hangup for Gardner is the arrest that led to his resignation at IUPUI.
It will be fascinating to see where North Central turns.
