(Tayshawn Comer led Cathedral with 23 points)

Behind an explosive first quarter, Cathedral moved to 3-0 on the young season with its win over Brebeuf.

Things were clicking for Cathedral from the first possession. Junior wing Jaxon Edwards connected on a three-pointer to start the game, and the Irish were off and running. Edwards and Tayshawn Comer fueled the quick start before Jake Davis and Vincent Brady joined the fun. Brady hit consecutive threes to push Cathedral's lead to 19-2. After Brebeuf's Evan Altman scored inside, Davis ended the quarter with a three. After the first eight minutes, Cathedral led 22-4.

To open the second quarter, Brebeuf was able to right the ship. Cathedral went to a zone defense, and the Braves were able to find a few move open shots. Senior guard Austin Ezell found space for a three and junior Billy Smith hit two threes a bit later. Cathedral kept Brebeuf at bay thanks to the play of Comer. He was able to get to any spot on the floor he wanted and scored from all over. At the break, he had 14 points and three assists.

Leading by 19 at halftime, Cathedral stretched its lead to 24 points after a three from Jalen Johnson. That's when Altman started to dominate around the basket for Brebeuf. The strongly-built forward put his head down and carved out space in the paint. Possession after possession, Altman scored at the basket for Altman. By quarter's end, Altman had scored 15 points and pulled Brebeuf with 10 points.

With Brebeuf as close as it had been since the opening minutes, Comer and Brady took over the game to make sure the Braves did not get any closer. The Irish duo scored 14 of the team's 16 fourth-quarter points. Cathedral's lead remained in double figures throughout the final quarter thanks to the scoring of Comer and Brady.

Comer finished with 23 points, four assists, and two steals. Brady, committed to the Air Force Academy, tallied 19 points on six of eight shooting along with seven rebounds and four assists. Jaxon Edwards was in double figures with 13 points.

Altman led all scorers with 24 points in the loss. Smith added 18 points and six rebounds. He was five of ten from three-point range, including one at the final buzzer. Ezell added 10 points.
