In the Wabash Valley Classic semifinal, the Tiger Cubs built a double-digit lead before the Mustangs stormed back in the second half. It was Greencastle with the last laugh, though.

Early on, it was all Brody Whitaker. The Marian University-bound guard scored eight points in the first quarter to push Greencastle to a 17-5 advantage. He also had four rebounds and two steals in the opening quarter. Benton Parmley, Evan Alexander, and Nick Sutherlin all hit threes for Greencastle in the first period.

In the second frame, Edgewood had success face guarding Whitaker. With Whitaker's touches limited, Coleman Sater was much more aggressive in the second quarter on the other end. He scored seven in the second period to get Edgewood back in the game. Despite that, Greencastle still led 26-17 at the half.

After an and-1 from Whitaker to start the third quarter, Edgewood went on a 10-0 run to pull within 29-27. Junior guard Caden Huttenlocker scored six during that stretch to get Edgewood back in it. The Mustangs had a shot to tie the game before Greencastle took it the other way and Nick Sutherlin stepped into a three from Parmley. Edgewood wasn't slowed as Huttenlocker scored five more to give Edgewood the lead.

Sutherlin's rainbow triple with five seconds left in the third tied the game for Greencastle then hit another three-pointer a couple of minutes into the fourth. Sater and Huttenlocker kept Edgewood within striking distance the rest of the way, but Greencastle made its free throws to keep the Mustangs at an arm's length. In the fourth quarter, the Tiger Cubs were 13-15 from the foul line.

Greencastle won going away, 55-46, to advance to tomorrow's Wabash Valley Classic title game against Bloomington South.

Whitaker finished with 20 points and nine rebounds, and Sutherlin added 19 points and six rebounds in the win. In the loss, Huttenlocker finished with 19 points, while Sater had 18 points and seven rebounds.
