2A No. 4 South Spencer (10-1) traveled to Floyd Central (4-2) after each team had blow out wins on Friday night. It was a close game for three quarters before the Highlanders separated themselves from the Rebels for the 69-60 win.

The Highlanders started fast with a 7-0 run as Air Force Academy commitment Jake Heidbreder knocked down a deep three-pointer. After an early timeout, South Spencer bounced back with an 11-0 run of itself own. Sophomore Cale Donoho came off the bench for two triples to key the spurt. The rest of the first half was back and forth.

After scoring eight points in the first quarter, Heidbreder took a back seat to Caleb Washington and Brady Moore in the second. Moore was a force inside as he scored in the lane and hit the glass hard. Washington knocked down a couple of outside shots in the period.

South Spencer finished the first half well with three-pointers continuing to fall. The Rebels were 4-10 from deep in the first half.

With South Spencer leading 30-28 at the half, Moore sparked the Highlanders in the third. He scored six quick points to help Floyd Central take the lead. Moore took drop off passes from Heidbreder, hit the offensive glass, and slashed to the basket. Junior center Wesley Celichowski scored a couple of times in the lane as well.

On the other end, Chase Garrett scored in the lane regularly to keep South Spencer in the game. After scoring three points in the first half, Garrett scored seven in the third period. He was most of the Rebel offense in the third.

To begin the fourth, Cole Harritt and Max Tripure extended Floyd Central's lead to 12 points a few minutes in. In closing time, Heidbreder was more aggressive and was sent to the foul line often. With 100 seconds remaining, Heidbreder scored his 1,000th career point on a free throw.

Floyd Central had a double-digit lead for most of the fourth before Michael Donoho took over for South Spencer. The senior guard scored 10 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter. It wasn't enough, though. The Highlanders won 69-60.

Moore finished with 20 points and nine rebounds in the victory. Heidbreder added 17 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals; Cole Harritt finished with 12 points; Washington tallied eight points and eight rebounds, and Tripure added eight points.

Donoho led South Spencer with 17 points. Case Garrett recorded 12 points; Cale Donoho finished with 10 points and four rebounds.
