Several big Indiana high school hoops tournaments kicked off Tuesday afternoon and provided an array of notable performances. Here were some of the best individual showings from around the state for Tuesday, Jan. 12.
Fletcher Loyer, Homestead 2022, contributed 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists as the Spartans earned a 72-60 win over Blackhawk Christian in the first round of the Marion County Tournament.
Luke Goode, Homestead 2021, followed closely behind with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in the Spartans’ big win over Blackhawk Christian.
Caleb Furst, Blackhawk Christian 2021, led all scorers with 27 points and 9 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Braves past Homestead.
CJ Gunn, Lawrence North 2022, and Shamar Avance, 2021, each poured in 28 points to propel Lawrence North over Leland Walker and North Central, 69-59.
Christopher Mantis, Lowell 2021, recorded a masterful double-double with 37 points and 10 rebounds despite Lowell’s 75-63 loss to West Side.
Tae Davis, Warren Central 2022, notched 17 points and 9 rebounds to help knock off Perry Meridian, 67-53, in the opening round of the Marion County Tournament.
Malik Stanley, Warren Central 2021, also chipped in 17 points as Warren Central advanced to the second round of the Marion County Tournament.
Clay Stolzfus, Northridge 2021, paced his team with 19 points to escape South Bend Riley with a 61-54 victory.
Markus Burton, Penn 2023, accounted for most of the scoring with 28 points as Penn edged Warsaw, 51-48.
Trent Johnson, Mishawaka 2021, had 21 points for the Cavemen in a 62-52 win over Jimtown.
Kaden Stanton, New Albany 2022, and Tucker Biven, 2021, scored 22 and 21 points, respectively, to push New Albany over Southwestern, 79-54.
Clay Butler, Ben Davis 2023, recorded 16 points and 5 rebounds as Ben Davis moved on to the second round of Marion County Tournament with a 51-48 win over Beech Grove.
Sheridan Sharpe, Ben Davis 2021, contributed on both ends of the floor with 12 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals in the Giants’ first round win against Beech Grove.
Anthony Donahue, Roncalli 2021, collected an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double, though it wasn’t enough as Roncalli fell to Lutheran, 56-54, in the first round of the Marion County Tournament.
Luke Ommen, Madison 2021, sank the game-winner at the buzzer to down Bedford North Lawrence, 54-52. Ommen finished with 12 points, while Luke Miller, 2021, led with 21 points.
Styles McCorkle, Greenwood Christian 2021, scored a game-high 24 points in Greenwood Christian’s 56-51 win over Indiana Creek in the Johnson County Tournament.
Mason Britt, Indian Creek 2021, led his team with 19 points in their Johnson County Tournament loss to Greenwood Christian.
Landin Hacker, Center Grove 2021, paced all players with 22 points as the Trojans pulled away for a 60-53 win at Whiteland.
Carson Hunter, Franklin 2022, cashed in 13 of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter to boost the Grizzly Cubs to a 62-61 overtime win over Edinburgh in the first round of the Johnson County Tournament.
Ryan Taylor, Evansville Mater Dei 2021, scored 19 points in his team’s 53-48 triumph over Harrison.
Ryan Preston, Carroll 2021, had 20 points and Jalen Jackson, 2022, supplied 19 points to guide Carroll to a blowout win over Dekalb, 72-37.
