Adams controlled the action at Hadaway's Shack from the tip in racking up their 23rd consecutive NIC victory Friday night against sectional rival Riley. It was a balanced effort from the Eagles, who had six players score between eight and 14 points and dominated the rebounding department by a 44-21 margin.
The balance was apparent right away as all five Eagle starters put their marks in the scoring column in the first period. Quentez Columbus and Charles Worsham put tons of pressure on the Wildcat defense by attacking the rim in transition, as the duo combined for 11 first quarter points.
Blake Wesley picked up his second foul on the first possession of the second quarter as nothing seemed to go right for Riley in the second period. Adams went on a 15-2 run in the second quarter, which was saved by a Blake Wesley jumper right before the buzzer to put them down 20 going into halftime.
The frenetic pace of the first half slowed after halftime as both teams extended possessions, but the Adams lead remained around twenty for the entire second half.
Quentez Columbus put up a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Brayden Saxton had a pair of one handed exclamation marks late in the fourth quarter as he was the only other Adams player in double figures with 12.
Blake Wesley led Riley with 16 points, and he was joined in double figures for the Wildcats by Jackson Copley, who finished with 13 points. But the rest of the Wildcats combined for just 11 as the suffocating Adams defense gave no room to breathe.
