The draw pushed most of the potential marquee match-ups to Friday and Saturday night, and there were not many upsets to disrupt that. The weekend slates were packed with great games. Looking through John Harrell’s predictions for Saturday’s games, it seemed like most of the games were projected to be within two scores. That is rarely the case for the championship game schedule. The games played out that way as well. Over the weekend, there were plenty of two and three overtime games. The Jeffersonville-Floyd Central and Heritage Christian-Covenant Christian stick out the most. Jeffersonville used a late runner from Will Lovings-Watts to beat a strong Floyd Central team, and Covenant Christian climbed out of a hole to avoid the upset against Heritage Christian, but it took three extra frames. Covenant Christian looked like a 2A South contender all season, so that would have been a major surprise.
