Curt Hopf is finally back on the court at the high school level as he sat out his entire junior season after transferring from Forest Park. The Bellarmine signee led the way for Barr-Reeve with 16 points and seven rebounds. With Hopf being the lone D1 player on the floor, he saw some extra attention from the Bloomington South defense as they often shaded an extra defender his way. Hopf did a solid job of finishing around the basket, but he did leave a few points on the board with several easy misses. Hopf did a good job of catching the ball with a defender fronting him and another defender helping on the back side. He had several plays where he initiated contact and was able to get to the free throw line. Hopf was able to knock down his only three point attempt of the contest. Hopf’s jump shot has improved a little bit over the last year, but that’s an area of his game that is still very much a work in progress at the moment. Hopf did finish with seven rebounds, however, there were stretches where he could have did a better job of attacking the ball off the rim. Defensively, Hopf showed some ability to guard in space as he spent some of the game guarding Joey Bomba on the perimeter. Overall, it was a solid showing for the future Bellarmine big man, but he could have produced a bigger night if he asserted himself inside more often.
