(Markus Burton produced in front of a bunch of college coaches on Saturday)

Saturday at the Nike EYBL and Hardwood Invitational saw several players elevate their recruiting profiles in front of Division I coaches. Here is a notebook on what Indiana Basketball Source saw on the second day of the final April evaluation period.

Franklin’s Micah Davis turned heads all weekend with his explosiveness and shooting ability. He did not shoot particularly well during the high school season, but the 2024 guard showed potential as a shooter. He went three of five from deep against a talented All-Ohio Red team to cap Saturday. He also had five assists in each of the Indy Heat 16U games on Saturday. Davis has bounce as he popped off the floor for a few impressive dunks. He has the upside to draw high-major attention.

(Louisville commitment Kaleb Glenn dominated Team Takeover)

The second April evaluation period tipped off Friday evening, and Indiana Basketball Source watched Nike EYBL action at the Pacers Athletic Center and Westfield Intermediate School.

17U Indy Heat ad a convincing win over an always talented and tough Team Takeover. Louisville-bound forward Kaleb Glenn led the way. He is built like a linebacker but plays like a smooth wing. He knocked down outside shots, scored off the dribble, and finished in traffic. Glenn showed his complete game as he put Indy Heat on his back for multiple stretches.

(Flory Bidunga from December 2021)

The second day of the first April evaluation period saw Indiana Basketball Source bounce to many Indianapolis-area gyms. Here are a few of the biggest takeaways from the long day of basketball.

Indiana commitment Jakai Newton played well to kick off Saturday. Newton is a killer in the mid-range with his height, length, and muscle. That was displayed against DC Premier as he made contested shots all game. He also had a backboard shaking dunk on a fast break.

His three-point shooting is not a strength right now, but his form indicates that it could be in the future.

Kokomo’s Flory Bidunga is a hot name this weekend. After a remarkable sophomore season, Bidunga is carrying it over to 16U play. With his ability to pop off the floor, Bidunga is a man amongst boys at the 16U level. In addition, he is an elite rim finisher and rim protector, which has been shown all weekend.

(Lawrence North's Azavier Robinson continues to play well)

The final day of the first April evaluation came to a close Sunday. Here’s what stood out to Indiana Basketball Source on the last day.

Cathedral forward Xavier Booker attracted Tom Izzo and Matt Painter to every game this weekend, along with coaches from Iowa, Notre Dame, Indiana, and Michigan. He finished the Spring Extravaganza with 22 points in a win over 3D Empire. Booker’s game continues to progress, especially in terms of consistency.

Carmel’s Garwey Dual only played a couple of minutes against 3D Empire after not being 100 percent after Friday night’s game. Nevertheless, he continues to have high-major college coaches buzzing about his upside and ability.

(Xavier Booker)

This weekend, the Indianapolis area hosts many NCAA-certified club events that D1 college coaches may attend. Indiana Basketball Source started the weekend at Ohio Basketball’s Spring Extravaganza before making the trip to the Pacers Athletic Center to see Under Armour Association action.

The main event of opening night at the Spring Extravaganza featured G3 All-Indy against Mid-Pro Academy as Cathedral’s Xavier Booker and Iowa-bound center Owen Freeman squared off. Matt Painter, Tom Izzo, Mike Brey, Michigan, Ohio State, and others grabbed seats early for it.

The game was littered with other D1 prospects as well. Mid-Pro’s Ty Pence, Brock Harding, Ethan Kizer, and Danny Stephens have multiple D1 offers.
