The opening week produced a matchup between top 4A teams in the Indianapolis area as Lawrence Central and Brownsburg squared off Tuesday night.
Lawrence Central came out hot from deep as Kyle Guy, Mekhi Biffle, and Chris King all hit threes in the first quarter. KJ Walton was aggressive for Brownsburg, scoring 13 in the opening stanza. The pace slowed down during the middle two periods as each team struggled to put together a string of baskets.
Foul trouble began to mount in the third quarter for Lawrence Central, which would play a factor as the game went on. Trailing by four with 8 minutes to play, Brownsburg began to ratchet up the defensive pressure, generating steals and easy transition points. When The Bulldogs were forced into the halfcourt, they attacked the rim and were able to finish or draw fouls, closing the game out by out scoring the Bears by 11 in the final quarter.
