The Marion County Tournament quarterfinals took place on Wednesday. Two of the four games went into overtime. The biggest upset was Warren Central over Lawrence North after Lawrence North beat North Central in the opening round. Here are the recaps.
Warren Central 69, Lawrence North 62 in overtime
Djimon Henson led the Warriors with 23 points. Pat Bacon led Lawrence North with 23 points, Jaylen McKay and Kevin Easley each had 14 points.
Pike 68, Lawrence Central 66 in overtime
Lawrence Central led for most of the game but could not pull out the victory. Ball State signee Tahjai Teague had 21 points and 12 rebounds along with six blocks in the win.
Southport 54, Park Tudor 47
Chris Holtman (Butler), Matt Painter (Purdue) and assistants from Michigan State and Ohio State were on-hand to watch Joey Brunk, Paul Scruggs and Jaren Jackson. Brunk finished with 11 points and five rebounds. Scruggs had 17 points in the win. Jackson had 13 in the loss while Western Michigan-bound guard Bryce Moore led Park Tudor with 14 points.
Ben Davis 44, Brebeuf Jesuit 42
Stephon Matthews had 13 points to lead Ben Davis, DeShon Tate had 11 and Tylor Shane added 10 points in the win. Tarig Eldosougi had 11 to lead Brebeuf.
Warren Central plays Ben Davis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday at Southport High School.
