Brebeuf entered Tuesday night's game with Anderson with a 7-8 record in Todd Howard's first season. Brebeuf has lost a number of close games to good teams. Anderson was 4-11 prior to the game, but the record includes wins over Muncie Central, Hamilton Southeastern and Huntington North. It set-up to be a game with solid game play between Brebeuf's Andrew Terrell and Kobie McNeal against Anderson's Zac Owens and Dionte Raines. That proved to be correct.
In the first half it looked like Brebeuf might run away with the game. Senior forward Aaron Banks dominated the paint early then stepped away from the basket late in the half. Banks scored 17 points in the opening half of play. Brebeuf was up 13 at intermission.
Anderson came out of the locker room and made it a game behind Djuan Peel and then Dionte Raines. Peel was aggressive going to the basket early in the second half. Anderson was right back into the game a couple minutes into the second half.
Brebeuf kept going to the well, Aaron Banks. He seemed to score every time that Anderson was within striking distance. Banks had help especially in the second half. Sophomore Kobie McNeal was solid throughout. He finished with 16 points in the game.
Dionte Raines attacked the basket late and seemed to score with ease. His aggressiveness kept Anderson in the game late although Andrew Terrell and McNeal were doing a good job of knocking down free-throws. Raines finished with 25 points.
Brebeuf was able to get key stops in the final possessions to gain the victory. Aaron Banks finished with 29 points and seven rebounds per Indiana Basketball Source's unofficial statistics. Terrell added nine points.
