Vermont signee and Columbus North forward Josh Speidel has been hopitalized after a serious car accident. When updates are released, we will post them on the site.
Speidel just had 33 points and 18 rebounds in a Columbus North win on Saturday. Josh and his family have the thoughts of the staff at Indiana Basketball Source.
Update 6:21 p.m. Monday: A CAT scan brought back positive news today. Per Jeff Rabjohns, Speidel will likely be in intensive care for two weeks.
Update 6:03 a.m.: There has been an enormous amount of support and interest in how Josh is doing. Since the brain is extremely sensitive and complex, it will likely be a couple days before a complete diagnosis is made.
Update 12:12 a.m. Monday: Bleeding is down and [correction] pressure on the brain has been relieved. There appears to be no other internal injuries. Long-term, the diagnosis looks positive at this point. The next 24-48 hours are key. This report was passed along by Kristof Kendrick and Mike Cline. Both are at Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis.
Update: Speidel was removed from his car via the Jaws of Life per reports by Therepublic.com. It appears all other people in the crash are alright or have minor injuries. Speidel has been transported to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis. Head and internal injuries are suspected at this time.
