The first Indiana All-Star game was played on Monday night at Richmond High School. The senior team rolled to the 118-79 victory. Josh Speidel was on-hand to watch the game and interact with his friends. Speidel was able to participate in the autograph session on Monday night. He even participated in Columbus North's graduation ceremony over the weekend.
There were a few notable absentees during the first exhibition game Monday night. K.J. Walton missed the game but he is expected to play in the games against Kentucky. Mr. Basketball Caleb Swanigan will miss all the games as he tries out for the USA basketball team. If he misses the games against Kentucky, it will be the second straight year that the Mr. Basketball did not participate in the Indiana All-Star games. Trey Lyles missed the games last year and did not show up to the games at all due to reported dehydration. Kentucky has had some problems getting its best players to participate in recent years but that has not been the case with Indiana.
Joel Okafor shined in front of his home crowd. He finished with 10 assists, eight rebounds and five points. Eron Gordon tallied a game-high 17 points in the loss.
