Metro Indy Basketball Fall League: Week 3

There were a couple new faces to the Metro Indy Fall Leage this week along with a few breakout performances. Yogi Ferrell and Tyler Alderman were two notable additions to the league. With just a couple of weeks left, I don't expect too many more additions to the league from here on out.

Dustin Smith 6'2 SG 2011 Eastern Hancock proved to me Sunday night that he is a D1 player. I have been impressed with Smith's offensive game the first few weeks of the league. This week he proved that he can guard at the D1 level by containing Ron Patterson. Smith didn't completely shut Patterson down, but he showed the quickness to guard him. He does need to improve his left hand when handling pressure, but that is his only weakness. Smith is a low-major plus type of prospect.

Harry Wills 6'1 PG 2012 Ben Davis, the fact that he has no offers at this moment is ridiculous to me. Wills is ultra quick that attacks the basket at all times. He is strong and finishes above the rim easily. He caught my attention last spring when he shut down Marquis Teague in the sectional. He can keep anyone in front of him. His shooting ability is his weakness, but it is improving. I believe Wills can play in any MM conference in America.

Daniel Purvlicis 6'7 PF 2012 Noblesville had a monster game. I talked about him in last week's report about how he had added muscle. This week he dominated the board against good size opponents (6'9 and 6'6). He finished strong against contact and even stepped out and hit a 3. If he played with that energy and toughness every game, there would be no doubt that he would be a mid-major prospect.

Tyler Alderman 6'9 PF 2012 Fishers made his debut in the fall league Sunday as I mentioned before. Overall, he played really well. He was active on the boards and never brought the ball down after getting a rebound. Alderman also showed a few nice post moves when the ball was thrown to him inside. He also has the ability to step outside and hit some shots from the perimeter. With his size and skill, he is definitely a D1 prospect. The question is what level can he play. Right now, I see him as a mid-major stretch.

Roo Standeford 6'2 SG 2011 Southwestern (Shelby) has a bit of an awkward looking shot, but it is consistent and quick. He hit a few 3's over defenders down the stretch of one game showing that his form doesn't stop him from making tough shots. He would be very good at the D2/NAIA level with his skill set.

Jaylon Brown 5'11 PG 2013 Fishers is an explosive leaper. His jumping ability reminds me of Chrishawn Hopkins in the fact that is effortless and he just keeps rising and rising. Brown can also shoot from deep. I think what he needs to improve is his mid-range game. Deciding when he can get to the rim and score compared to when he needs to pull-up and either shoot or pass.
