Crazy Day for IU

Indiana University had all they could handle with a scrappy University of Evansville team. The Purple Aces even led by six points at halftime. Indiana used a big second half run to separate themselves from Evansville and held on for a victory to go to 4-0 on the young season. The game was exciting enough to make most fans day. That was only the start of the day for the coaching staff and fan base though.

A couple hours after the game, word broke that Devin Davis (2013) of Warren Central had committed to Indiana. Davis is a 6'6" forward that played primarily in the post as a freshmen, but will play more and more on the perimeter. He showed over the spring and summer that he has the ball handling skills to be a small forward. He has great length and finishes really well at the rim. He has a lot of potential has he develops into a true perimeter player.

Shortly after the Davis news broke even bigger news appeared. This time it was super sophomore Collin Hartman had also committed to Coach Tom Crean and Indiana. Hartman is our number one rated college prospect in the class of 2013 for Indiana. Hartman was the go-to guy as a freshmen at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis. He is known most for his shooting ability, but he also handles the ball really well and has very good court vision especially for someone now listed at 6'7".

All eyes turn back to the 2012 class for the coaching staff and fan base. Yogi Ferrell has been considered a strong IU lean since Cody Zeller made his announcement to attend Indiana. Ferrell has announced that he will make his decision Wednesday, but he did come out with a top 6 last week. Those in consideration were Indiana, Bulter, Virginia, Wake Forest, Florida, and Miami (FL). He has since removed Miami from the decision. Gary Harris is another top target of the staff. Harris attended the Evansville game just like Davis, Hartman, and Zeller did. He attended the Butler/Louisville game last week when Louisville opened their new arena. IU only has one open scholarship spot for 2012, but they can oversign by one according to Big Ten rules. Plus, someone might transfer or declare for the NBA before that becomes a problem.

It was definitely a crazy day for everyone that follows Indiana basketball. Two of the best 2013 prospects committing to one university in a span of 10 minutes.
