Sometimes young teams take teams for granted and don't play with the energy or urgency that they need. That is exactly what happened to Andrean Tuesday night against Hammond Clark. Andrean has five sophomores on their varsity roster. They started three of them. Andrean came out with a lack of focus and had a handful of early turnovers. Those are the type of mistakes that you expect the young team to learn from and not let happen again.
Even with the slow start, Andrean held an 11-9 lead after the first quarter. That was mainly because of the play of senior Adam Bosak. The 6'6" forward had four points, 3 rebounds, and 4 blocks in the first stanza. Bosak is active and long although he needs muscle to play at the next level. The second quarter was more of the same type of play by Andrean and Clark took a 22-20 lead into the locker room.
I don't know what head coach Carson Cunningham said at halftime, but something clicked for his youngsters especially Collin Wojcik. Wojcik played a lot of minutes as a freshmen last year, but without much of the attention that Nick Davidson received. Wojcik had 11 points in the quarter and Andrean opened up a 40-29 lead heading to the final quarter.
Davidson then scored 10 fourth quarter points mainly by getting into the paint and finishing instead of looking to make the highlight reel pass like he did in the first half. Andrean ended up winning the game 63-48. Davidson ended with 16 points while Wojcik had 18 points for the winning team.

Nick Davidson 6'4" SG 2013 Andrean was impressive in the way he handled the ball although he tried to force some passes when he should have been looking to score. He has above average quickness and looked like he moved well laterally. Davidson didn't take any 3's in the ball game but his mid-range form looked good. He looks like a mid-major prospect as long as he continues to develop his strength, athleticism, and overall game.
Collin Wojcik 6'3 SF 2013 Andrean he was more aggressive looking for his outside shot than Davidson was tonight. Wojcik was 2-6 from 3pt range and his form looks to be very smooth. He's not quite the ball hanlder that Davidson is at this point. Wojcik also isn't as quick laterally as Davidson. I project him to be more of a low-major or D2/NAIA recruit at this point...it is still very early though.
Adam Bosak 6'6" PF 2011 Andrean is very long and above average laterally for his height. He will need to add muscle if he is going to play at the D2/NAIA/D3 level though. Bosak played with a good motor and ran the floor well. His mid-range jumper looked a bit unorthodox, but seemed to be pretty consistent with it. I would have liked him to finish a few more plays inside and to use his left hand more in the post. Definitely has a chance to play at the small college level.
