Warren Central has a very young team this year, but they are also talented. They start two sophomores, a freshmen, a junior, and a senior. It helps to have Devin Davis, 6'6" sophomore, who is committed to Indiana University and has a full year of varsity experience though. Second look at Fishers so far this season. Fishers is a pretty young team overall as well. They only start one senior.
Early it looked like Fishers was going to control the game. Warren Central wasn't getting great shots and they were settling for a lot of contested jumpers. Fishers looked like they were going to dominate the inside behind Tyler Alderman, 6'9" 2012, and Ryan Rebholz, 6'7" 2011. Alderman was looking to be assertive early as he hit a top of the key 3 and was looking for scoring opportunities on the block. He didn't finish a couple of plays, but I liked he was being more assertive than when I saw Fishers against Brownsburg. Rebholz hit a couple of early deep shots plus got a put back tip-in. Both had 8 points and 4 rebounds at the half. Fishers led 30-25.
Davis was quiet in the first half and didn't even get many shot attempts. He had 5 points and 3 rebounds in the half. In the second half, he was much more aggressive and attacked the rim every chance he got. Davis really turned the momentum in Warren Central's favor right from the start of the second half with his aggressiveness. Brent Calhoun, 6'8" 2012, was also a much bigger (no pun intended) factor in the second half. Calhoun cleaned up a lot of misses for Warren Central.
Fishers on the other hand just couldn't get anything to go into the basket. Guards Jaylon Brown and J.P. Pena couldn't get anything going all night. I had them as a combined 3-13 from the field. They were getting some good looks but it wasn't their night. Warren Central held off a late run by Fishers to win 61-57.

Devin Davis 6'6" SF Warren Central 2013 Davis played the majority of the game on the perimeter and showed some nice ball handling skills. It looks like his outside shooting is improving, but still not very consistent. Davis made a nice "euro step" move on a fast break. It is always good to see dribble moves in the open court from players that are transitioning from post players to the perimeter. Davis did post a few times but it was very seldom. I hope he keeps the ability to post in his repertoire. That ability to go inside and outside is something that makes you very hard to guard aka Carmelo Anthony. I had him with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the game on 4-7 from 2, 1-2 from 3, and 4-4 from the line.
Tyler Alderman 6'9" C Fishers 2012 Alderman was much more assertive in the first half. He is a very good passer out of the post and has the ability to hit 15-20 foot jumpers. I'm hoping he becomes more aggressive and more physical in the post to take his game to the next level. He doesn't seek contact while posting like the good post players do. Because of that, his guards are afraid to throw him the ball in the post at times because they don't want to throw it away. He is very skilled though.
Jaylon Brown 5'11" PG Fishers 2012 Brown didn't have his best game against Warren Central. He did try to force a few contested shots in the paint and he over-penetrated a couple of times. I still love Brown's upside with his athleticism. He does need to improve his outside shooting as it seems like that his a weakness of his right now.
Brent Calhoun 6'8" C Warren Central 2012 Calhoun had a nice second half. It looks like Calhoun is a true 6'8" now even though he has been listed as that for awhile. Athleticism is not one of his strengths. Calhoun also looks to be in much better shape. He is still almost all left handed but should be a pretty good option for most low-majors.
Ryan Rebholz 6'7" SF Fishers 2011 It's amazing how much better making shots makes you look. I had him 3-5 from 3 and 1-2 from 2 for 11 points. I still question what else he does other than shoot it from the outside. It seems like he is making more of an effort to rebound this year. He isn't bad laterally on on defense. Ball handling isn't very strong especially going left.
Dorian French 6'1" SG Warren Central 2011 I wasn't keeping take of French's stats, but he hit a handful of 3's and a couple of other mid-range jumpers. Seems like an undersized shooting guard for the next level. Could be a good option for NAIA/D3 who needs a decently athletic shooter.
Jordan Garnett 6'4 PF Warren Central 2014 Garnett starts as a freshmen for Warren Central. He's very athletic and very active. Garnett is also pretty long. I had him with 4 points and 5 rebounds. He will be one to watch the next few years.
Sam Thompson 6'1" PG Warren Central 2013 Thompson has nice size for a sophomore point guard. He's very quick...matching Jaylon Brown's quickness on both ends. He didn't look to score much and was only 5-9 from the line by my count.
