First time seeing Park Tudor in the regular season this year. I went to their scrimmage, but this would be a much better setting to see Yogi Ferrell, Trevon Bluiett, and company. Second time seeing Lawrence Central as I saw them play Chicago Julian December 22nd.
Yogi Ferrell came out and set the tone right from the tip. He hit a 3 to start the game and had 8 first quarter points. The game started out with hot shooting from both teams. Tre Granger hit a couple of 3's for Lawrence Central and Jeremy Hollowell had 5 points. LC held a small 17-15 lead after the first.
The pace slowed in the second quarter and both teams suddenly became cold from the outside. Tyler Corley did a good job of getting to the rim and had 7 first half points. Lawrence Central took a 25-24 lead into halftime.
Yogi had a big third quarter. He had 12 points and a handful of assists in the quarter alone. Park Tudor took the momentum away from Lawrence Central. When Ferrell would draw multiple defenders, the outside shooters of Park Tudor made them pay by knocking down shots. If you are an outside shooter, there is no better player to play with than Ferrell. One defender cannot stop him off the dribble, so help always has to come. Which leaves shooter wide open to shoot like they when in their driveway alone. Park Tudor was ahead 40-39 after 3.
The fourth quarter was dominated by Hollowell and it had nothing to do with him shooting from the outside. He dominated the paint area against the smaller Park Tudor team. In the quarter, he had 11 points and 6 rebounds. Hollowell was attacking rebounds and playing with an intensity that you rarely see from him especially inside. Tyler Fischl helped Hollowell on the boards and came up with some big offensive rebounds. Lawrence Central came away with a solid 59-48 victory.
Yogi Ferrell led all scorers with 24 points and had 6 assists. Hollowell ended the game with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Tyler Fischl added 12 points and 7 rebounds for LC. Tyler Corley had 9 points as well.

Yogi Ferrell 5'11 PG 2012 Park Tudor
Ferrell was fantastic. The IU verbal showed off all facets of his game. He had a game-high 24 points, but the rim was unkind a few times. He even missed all 3 of his free-throws after getting fouled on a 3-pointer. "I've been watching him since he was 7 years old and I have never seen him do that" a parent behind me commented. He would have had about 5 more assists if teams would have been able to hit wide open shots.
Jeremy Hollowell 6'7 SF 2012 Lawrence Central
Hollowell didn't shoot the ball very well, but he didn't let that render himself useless on the offensive end. Instead, he went inside to the middle of the zone and dominated the boards. He even showed some emotion after one player. Something that is supremely rare from Hollowell. I hope he plays with this intensity and desire more consistently. If he does then he will meet his very high potential.
Tyler Corley 5'10 PG 2012 Lawrence Central
Explosive, small guard that is a bit under the radar. He received sparse playing time on his AAU team D3 Heat when he was the best point guard on the roster. He is able to finish at the rim because he can really get off the floor and is very strong for his age. Corley is also a good outside shooter. I'm not sold on his ball handling ability and I haven't focused too much on it because I haven't seen him against many great athletes.
Trevon Bluiett 6'4 SF 2014 Park Tudor
Bluiett had a cold shooting night. His shot is a bit of a shot put and doesn't have a very high shooting pocket. He has been a pretty good shooter in the past though. His athleticism worries me a bit. I don't see much explosiveness in his game. He isn't a great leaper at this point and he doesn't have a great first step. I'm definitely not sold on him yet, but this spring/summer should give more clarity to his potential.
Troy Spears 6'3 SF 2014 Park Tudor
Spears is a very good athlete. He has the explosiveness that Blueitt doesn't. Spears gets off the floor well and seems to be quicker off the dribble. I haven't seen Spears shoot very often in game settings. Definitely a guy to keep an eye on.
Richard Freeman 6'7 PF 2013 Lawrence Central
Freeman got the start in this one and played with more toughness than I have seen from him in the past. He is probably the most overrated player in my 2013 rankings in terms of his production being the most behind his overall potential. Long, athletic, good shooting form but would rather play on the perimeter than the post. He usually doesn't play with much toughness and his post moves are not very good.
J.B. Rapp 6'3 SG 2012 Park Tudor
Rapp is your classic catch and shoot guy that isn't very athletic. He is pretty well built and plays the game with good intelligence. Lateral quickness is going to be a problem at every college level. His dribble drive game is developing, but still needs work since he isn't very quick. Likely a good NAIA/D3 prospect.
Paul Bayt 6'4 SF 2012 Park Tudor
Bayt is similar to Rapp, but not as consistent from the outside although he is longer and a bit more athletic. Bayt is better laterally than Rapp which will be a big factor determining what level he can play. Most likely a D2/NAIA prospect though.
Tre Granger 5'10 PG 2012 Lawrence Central
Granger is a lot like Corley but not quite as explosive especially in terms of leaping. They are both very similar in terms of lateral quickness and shooting ability. Granger is a good penetrator. D2/NAIA/D3 prospect.
Tyler Fischl 6'3 SF 2012 Lawrence Central
Fischl is a bit of a tweener in my mind. He is a good athlete and does a lot of good things around the rim. He can also step out and hit shots from the outside although his form is not the prettiest. I'm not sure he can handle the ball well enough to be a shooting guard or small forward. I'm also not sold on his defensive ability. Likely a D2/NAIA prospect where he can guard multiple positions like 2,3,4 and do the same on the offensive end.
