This was the third time I have seen Pike this year plus I was at their scrimmage so really fourth time. Just my second time seeing Chatard this year. I saw him play Scecina early in the season. Chatard doesn't have the star power of Pike, but they play well together and don't make many mistakes.
Chatard came to play from the tip. Jake Miller was especially aggressive as he got to the rim a couple of times while also hitting a 3. Chatard also made an effort to go inside to Nick Martin. Martin, a Notre Dame football commit, wasn't able to convert early but became more effective as the game went on. Pike didn't seem particularly engaged in the game early. R.J. Hunter was able to knock down a couple of 3's though. Chatard took a 15-9 lead to the second quarter.
Jake Miller continued to play well for Chatard in the second quarter. While Hunter was the bright spot for Pike. Hunter was 4-5 from the field for 10 points and also grabbed 4 rebounds in the first half. Marquis Teague was able to get in the scoring column after being held scoreless in the first. Teague was only 3-10 from the field in the first half though for 6 points. Chatard built their lead to 31-22 by halftime.
Teague and Pike came out much more aggressive in the third quarter. Teague scored the first couple of baskets in the second half. Suddenly, Pike was back into the game. Teague went on to score 11 points in the quarter and Pike was only down 1 going to the final quarter.
The third quarter was all Teague, but the fourth quarter was all R.J. Hunter. Hunter scored 14 points in the quarter while hitting big shots and making plays on both ends of the court. It was a back and forth game for most of the quarter but Hunter and Pike were able to make more plays down the stretch. Pike pulled out the 63-57 victory.

R.J. Hunter 6'5 SG 212 Pike
Hunter has always been known as a shooter and he is. He has a quick release and at 6'5 he is able to get his shot off basically anytime he wants. This season he has become a really good defender. He uses his length to get a lot of deflections, he anticipates passes really well. His father is IUPUI head coach Ron Hunter. He is going through the recruiting process though and it is not a certainty that he will play for his father in college.
Marquis Teague 6'2 PG 2011 Pike
The Kentucky-bound point guard didn't have his best game. He did make plays when Pike needed him to in the second half. He is so quick that he can get to the rim anytime he wants. Instead of getting 15 layups a game though, he settles for outside jumpers. That is good for his development but it would be better for Pike if he went to the basket more.
Greg Gardner 6'4 SF 2012 Chatard
Gardner is a very good outside shooter. He gets it off pretty quickly. Gardner doesn't look to do much off the dribble, but he did bring the ball up against Josh Gentry who is a very good one on one defender. Gardner is a solid D2/NAIA/D3 prospect.
Joe Fagan 6'4 SF 2013 Chatard
Fagan missed the second quarter while getting his lip to stop bleeding after he got hit by a shoulder during a loose ball scramble. I think Fagan is going to end up being a LM/D2 borderline prospect. He's not a great athlete plus I haven't seen him shoot it very consistently yet. If he grows a little more, gets more consistent from the outside, and shows that he can take people off the dribble then he will be a D1 player for sure. He has to improve all of those areas though.
Jake Miller 6'0 PG 2011 Chatard
Miller is a feisty competitor that has some skill to go along with it. He is a good shooter from the outside along it isn't the quickest release. He has the quickness to get to the rim. He uses his quickness and toughness to be a good defender. NAIA/D3 prospect.
