Second time seeing Indianapolis Tech this season if you count their scrimmage that I went to and I also went to an open gym in the fall. Tech is led by Indiana University commit Trey Lyles. First time watching Lafayette Central Catholic this year. LCC entered the game with a 14-5 record. Their schedule is full of 3A and 4A teams though and they will compete at the 1A level during the tournament.
Lafayette Central Catholic came out and shot really well in the first quarter. LCC senior Brett Haan eclipsed the 1,000 point mark in his career with a free-throw in the first quarter. Cody Christopher did most of the damage in the first quarter for LCC with 10 points though. Despite Christopher's hot start, Tech kept the game close.
Trey Lyles couldn't get anything going early. He forced a couple of shots and a couple drives against multiple defenders. Lyles is still learning how to play against defenses that are geared towards stopping him. He had just 2 points in the first half and they were off of free-throws.
Jeremie Tyler was a bright spot for Tech in the first half. The freshmen hit three 3's and had 10 points. Tech senior Beecher Ward had a nice half as well with 8 points. LCC lead 36-29 at the half though.
The third quarter wasn't very smooth for either team. Both teams struggled to get into an offensive rhythm. LCC held a 4 point lead going to the final quarter.
The fourth quarter was more entertaining. Jeremie Tyler continued to shoot well from the outside. He would hit three more 3's in the quarter and ended with 7 3's for the game on his way to 24 points. Not to be out done though, Brett Haan had a great fourth quarter for LCC. Haan scored 13 points in the quarter and 26 for the game.
Tech took the lead for a short time in the fourth quarter but Haan made too many plays and hit too many shots down the stretch. LCC won by the score of 65-63.
Trey Lyles finished with 10 points on 3-11 shooting. He also had 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 turnovers.

Trey Lyles 6'8 SF 2014 Tech
Lyles definitely struggled in this game. He has all the tools though. He just needs to understand when to attack, when not to and how to get open without the ball in his hands. Lyles has all the tools..good athlete, can handle the ball at a guard level, great shooting form. His defensive effort was not at a high level today though.
Jeremie Tyler 6'0 SG 2014 Tech
I guess it is easy to look good when you hit 7 3's in a game like Tyler did against LCC. The freshmen has a lot of potential. He has good range (obviously), he is a good athlete, can handle the ball, and has nice length. Tyler needs to become more of a scoring point guard than a shooting guard though. He will also need to get stronger to take his game to a higher level. He has MM prospect potential though.
Tyler Scott 6'6 PF 2014 Tech
Scott didn't play very much in this game. He is a big body especially for a freshmen and he has some solid back to the basket moves. He rebounds well also. He has the potential to be a very good player...in the MM/LM range as a prospect.
Beecher Ward 6'4 SF/PF 2011 Tech
Ward is a good athlete that is very active in the paint. His offensive skills aren't great, but he can hit a catch and shoot 15 footer consistently. His foot speed allows him to guard on the perimeter and his leaping ability let's him guard taller post players. NAIA/JUCO prospect.
Brett Haan 6'4 SF 2011 LCC
Haan is a very solid high school player. He shoots it well and reads defenses well. He isn't a good athlete and doesn't handle the ball particularly well. He could be a solid D3/NAIA player though.
Andrew Hubertz 6'2 SG 2013 LCC
Hubertz has a very good skill set for a sophomore. He shoots it well off the catch and off the dribble. He handles the ball at a solid level. Not the best athlete, but not terrible laterally. Likely a D2/NAIA prospect, but has a chance to be a D1 player if he grows/gets a little more explosive/keeps improving his skills.
Derrick Jackson 6'5 PF 2012 Tech
Jackson could be a player to have on the radar for the NAIA/JUCO level. He is very long and is a good athlete. He didn't show a great skill set today, but showed he could do a few things.
