Continuing my predictions of the Indiana high school basketball tournament, we will skip ahead to the final four of each class. If you would like to see my sectional predictions click here.
My regional winners are...
4A
Munster- I expect Munster to come out of the Michigan City regional after beating Warsaw or Merrillville. I have South Bend Riley in this regional as well but I feel like a Munster/Merrillville regional final is highly likely. A rematch of a regular season game in which Munster won.
Pendleton Heights- The Marion regional could be wide open. I picked Kokomo, Pendleton Heights, Homestead, and Northrop to play in this regional. It was a coin flip to decide this regional and Pendleton Heights won the flips. Bryson and Brenton Scott are going to cause match up problems for whoever they play though.
North Central- The Hinkle regional is always good, but this year could be fantastic. I predicted North Central, Pike, Center Grove, and Hamilton Southeastern to play in this regional. Think of the stars that might be in this regional D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, Ronnie Johnson, Marquis Teague, R.J. Hunter, Andy Smeathers, Jonny Marlin, Gary Harris, and Zak Irvin. Pike and Center Grove have the best chances to beat North Central but Hamilton Southeastern matches up well with North Central as well especially if Randy Gregory can dominate inside. Pike beat North Central in the county tournament in January so they know they can do it. North Central usually finds a way to win though thanks to D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera.
Bloomington South- Terre Haute North, Bedford North Lawrence, Castle, and Bloomington South were my picks to be in the Seymour regional. Bloomington South is very beatable but they have the best chance to make it out of this regional.
3A
Culver Academy- I have Culver Academy, Gary Wallace, Andrean, and West Lafayette in the Crown Point regional. It was hard to decide between Culver and Wallace, but I think Culver is better at more positions although Wallace will have the best player on the floor with Branden Dawson.
Concordia- I have Maconquah, Concordia, Delta, and Columbia City advancing to the Blackford regional. Concordia gets it done though and moves on to semi-state.
Roncalli- Lebanon, Roncalli, Rushville, and Batesville are my selections to make the Shelbyville regional. Rushville has a great chance to win this regional because of the trio of Spencer Comer, Brandon Herbert, and Jon Thompson. Roncalli matches up well with Rushville and has more size and moves to semi-state.
Washington- Sullivan, Corydon Central, Washington, and Princeton make up the Washington regional for me. Cody Zeller is too much and they advance to semi-state.
2A
Bishop Noll- Bishop Noll, North Judson, Prairie Heights, and Westview are my picks to make the North Judson regional. Bishop Noll has the most talent, but North Judson and Westview have won a lot of games this year and won't be defeated easily.
Tipton - Luers, Northfield, Tipton, and Delphi will advance to the Tipton regional. Tipton and Luers would be a good matchup but I think Tipton could get the best of Luers.
Park Tudor- Winchester, Park Tudor, Eastern Hancock, and North Decatur will play in the Connersville regional. Yogi Ferrell and Park Tudor make it out of this regional again this year.
Eastern Greene- Providence, Forest Park, Eastern Greene, and Covenant Christian will play in the Southridge regional. This is a very talented 2A regional and I am picking the upset of the #1 ranked team in the state. I have Forest Park losing to Eastern Greene.
1A
Bowman Academy- Canterbury, Triton, Bowman Academy, and Caston will play in the Triton regional. This regional has great talent for a 1A regional...there will be many future Division 1 players competing against each other. Bowman Academy advances but their guard play worries me. It is not nearly as strong as it was last season.
Lafayette Central Catholic- Wes-Del, Rockville, Lafayette Central Catholic, and Monroe Central will compete in the Franfort regional. I have LCC coming out of this regional because they are balanced, smart, and tough.
Jac-Cen-Del- Clay City, Morristown, Indianapolis Metro, and Jac-Cen-Del are my picks to be at the Martinsville regional. The best player in this regional is definitely Dylan Langkabel, but I think Jac-Cen-Del will move on.
Evansville Day- Orleans, Rock Creek Academy, North Daviess, and Evansville Day for the Loogootee regional. I have an upset pick here with Evansville Day advancing.
