Here is a look at some of the premier match-ups of the second round of sectional play in the IHSAA boys basketball tournament.

Kouts (19-2) vs. Bowman Academy (11-10)

It is pretty rare for a 19-2 team to be a heavy underdog against a team that ended the regular season at 10-10. That is exactly what Kouts, the #1 ranked 1A team, is against Bowman. Bowman now has the services of 6'8" Stephan Hawkins (2012) after he sat out the regular season due to the transfer ruling by the IHSAA.

Culver Academy (14-6) vs. Mishawaka Marian (15-6)

This game has a nice point guard match-up with Jermaine Myers (2012) against Demetrius Jackson (2013).

South Bend Washington(14-6) vs. South Bend Riley (16-5)

Washington won the meeting a couple of weeks ago in overtime between these two. There is also a decent post match-up between  6'7" Marcus Moody (2011) and 6'5" Bo Calhoun (2012). Calhoun had 26 points and 13 rebounds in the last meeting.

Cathedral (17-3) vs. Lawrence Central (14-9)

There will be a lot of talent on the court in this game. The headliners are Lawrence Central's Jeremy Hollowell and Cathedral's Collin Hartman. Cathedral's Jared Drew played for Lawrence Central last season.

Lawrence North (11-10) vs. North Central (18-2)

Lawrence North has enough talent at the guard position to play with North Central. Will the Lawrence North guards remain calm and handle the pressure or get rattled which leads to turnovers? Lawrence North has Michael Chandler and North Central has no one to defend him. Expect North Central to be in a half court trap much of the game and then collapse on Chandler if he gets the ball near the paint.
