Jalen Packer has committed to Western Illinois according to Kyle Neddenriep of the Indy Star. Western Illinois plays in the Summit League with the likes of IUPUI and IPFW. We have Packer as the 23rd best college prospect in Indiana for the class of 2011.
In early April, Packer told Indiana Basketball Source that he was looking at the possibilities of going the prep school or junior college route. Hutchinson Community College and John Logan College were two junior college options he was exploring at the time. It appears that his recruitment to Western Illinois developed late in the process.
Jalen Packer should be a good fit with Western Illinois. He is a point guard with good size (6'2") and is a good athlete. Packer is a pass first point guard but has developed a steady outside shot when defenders forget about him.
