Lake Central traveled down to Fishers, Indiana to take on Hamilton Southeastern. The main attraction of the game was the match-up between Glenn Robinson, III and Gary Harris. They are two of the top players in the nation along with going to rival colleges; Michigan and Michigan State respectively.
The rhythm of the first quarter was disrupted due to constant foul calls. Hamilton Southeastern was in the bonus four minutes into the game. Lake Central joined them in the bonus shortly after that. The fouls didn’t stop Glenn Robinson from having a great first period though. Robinson showed off his complete skills by going 5-7 from the field for 11 points in the quarter. Hamilton Southeastern led by 3 going into the second quarter though.
If Robinson owned the first quarter then Gary Harris owned the second. Harris was a factor on both ends of the court. He had several steals that led to dunks for him. Harris scored 9 points in the quarter and 16 in the first half as HSE opened up a 47-29 lead at halftime.
It looked like HSE might walk away with it in the second half, but give Lake Central credit as they showed toughness to keep the game within striking distance. Lake Central cut the deficit to 9 in the fourth, but just couldn’t get over the hump to put real “game pressure” on Hamilton Southeastern. Glenn Robinson, III was spectacular in scoring a game-high 30 points, but Gary Harris’ 25 points came in a winning effort.

Hamilton Southeastern
Gary Harris 6’4” SG 2012 Classic game for the Michigan State-bound guard. He is an elite level defender and his defense on Robinson changed the game in the second quarter. He picked Robinson’s pocket a couple times which led to dunks and lay-ups for him. Once he puts on some muscle in the upper body, his game could really explode even though he is already a top player in the nation.
Zak Irvin 6’6” SF 2013 Irvin had a very nice second half, but not many of the ways he scored will translate to scoring at the next level. I’m still not a believer in his shooting abilities although he did knock down a couple of mid-range shots. He will be a great defender at Michigan though there is no doubt about that. His offensive game needs to steadily improve though.
Jacobby Bledsoe 5’10” PG 2012 Bledsoe was very good in the first half, he played within himself and knocked down open shots when left alone. He did struggle guarding the sophomore Tye Wilburn though. It was the bad Bledsoe in the second half. He had a couple of careless turnovers and took some bad shots especially in terms of time and score. He is a low-major point guard prospect; I don’t see him being productive at any level higher than that.
Paul Furlin 6’0” PG 2013 Furlin was solid although he didn’t shot it well from the outside. He plays off the ball since Bledsoe handles the primary ball handling duties; at the next level he will need to be a point guard. He should be on the radar for low-majors though.
Lake Central
Glenn Robinson, III 6’6” SF 2012 Robinson’s game has improved so much over the last year that it is hard to grasp. He is bigger, stronger and much more explosive. He always had a great mid-range game and that hasn’t changed, but he has also increased his range. He should definitely be in the discussion of being a top 3 player in Indiana.
Tye Wilburn 5’10” PG 2014 Wilburn was impressive again (he played extremely well against Gary West Side) although he is still learning how to be a true point guard. His upside is very high as long as he can stay healthy. Mid-majors should be on him and high-majors should be evaluating him.
Mike Miklusak 6’5” SF 2013 Miklusak didn’t have a great game stat wise, but his main priority was guarding Gary Harris and I thought he did a very good job on him. Harris scored a good portion of his points in transition. Miklusak is at least a high-level D2/NAIA prospect and possibly low-major.
Alex Ratic 6’1” SG 2013 Ratic picked up 3 fouls in the first quarter, so he sat most of the first half. He is a very good shooter, but that is about it offensively. He could be a good fit for D2/NAIA/D3 programs. {/iACL}
