First look at this season’s North Central Panthers. I didn’t expect this game to be very competitive and that prediction proved correct. Gary Wallace trailed 18-14 before North Central took complete control of the game. North Central cruised to a 101-49 victory.

North Central
Ronnie Johnson 5’10” PG 2012 The Purdue-commit is usually the catalyst for North Central runs. He was the guy that sparked most of the big runs they had last year even though D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera was the leading scorer. Johnson was the one to get NC rolling in this game as well.
Patrick Ingram 6’2” SG 2012 Ingram didn’t have his best game Saturday. It seemed like he didn’t have his usual legs although he had a great finish on a lob play. Overall, he was quiet on both ends.
John Murry 6’3” SG 2013 I’ve always liked Murry’s game. I wish he was a little bit more explosive, if he was then he would be a lock mid-major prospect. I still think he is a mid-major prospect because of his shooting ability plus size and strength. He needs to continue to improve his skills and ball handling.
Perry Poindexter 6’7” PF 2014 Poindexter plays behind Darius Latham, so he doesn’t get a ton of minutes but if he plays like he did Saturday Coach Mitchell will have to find him minutes. He was active inside and attacked rebounds. He had one great two-handed tip dunk. He needs to add muscle and keep working on his skill set to be a high-major candidate.
Darius Latham 6’5” PF 2013 Coach Mitchell is very high on Latham; he thinks he can play for mid-majors. Latham is very skilled and uses his body well, but I don’t see him being able to guard power forwards at the mid-major level especially “stretch 4’s”. Low-major is a possibly for him but I think the defensive end will be a struggle for him.
Jimmy Miller 6’5” SF 2012 Miller is a surprise starter in my eyes. He has nice length and will do the little things. It looks like he is a decent defender and a good shooter. He could be a very nice D2/NAIA/D3 prospect.
Chandler Rowe 6’5” SF 2013 First look at Rowe, he is a 6’5” combo forward. He is really long and a pretty good defender. He didn’t showcase many skills, but he finished plays in the paint when given the chance. We will monitor him throughout the season.
Jeff Harris 5’10” PG 2014 Harris played spot minutes for North Central last season as a freshman on a team that was ranked #1 in the state most of the year. His college potential is going to come down to the question of “what level can he defend at?” He is a good shooter and is a good passer.
Gary Wallace
Charles Cooper 6’3” SF 2013 Cooper was the only scoring threat for Wallace. He was out of control at times and wasn’t much of a threat from the outside. He did get to the rim a few times and showed some potential. Cooper is possibly a player for D2/NAIA/JUCO programs to keep an eye on.
Travon Boddic 5’10” PG 2013 Boddic had a nice first half. He was able to get into the lane and finish a couple of plays. He was quick and handled the ball pretty well. Second half he was non-existent. Boddic looked like he could have a chance to be a nice player, but it was hard to tell since he didn’t have much help.
Laron Counce 6’6” PF 2012 Counce was in fall trouble all game. He is a big body that will rebound and be physical. His skill set is very limited. Counce could be an option for NAIA/JUCO programs that are looking for some size and rebounding. {/iACL}
