The IHSAA announced classification changes for the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. The “Tournament Success Factor” has not been added in to the changes yet. For other sport classifications visit this link.
Here is a breakdown of the movement by class from the IHSAA website. Bold are comments added by Indiana Basketball Source.
Moving from 3A to 4A (3)
Indianapolis Northwest, Mt. Vernon (Fortville), Plymouth.
Mt. Vernon and Plymouth won their sectionals this season. It will be a much stiffer task next year.
Moving from 4A to 3A (3)
Columbia City, New Haven, Northview.
Columbia City was senior-laden this season and New Haven loses V.J. Beachem (Notre Dame) so the move will soften the blow for those programs.
Moving from 2A to 3A (7)
Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, Herron, Indianapolis Marshall, Rochester, Southridge, Tipton, Wheeler.
Luers and Tipton have had great success in recent years. Tipton would move up another class if they win the Semi-State title on Saturday.
Moving from A to 3A (1)
Gary Lighthouse.
A big jump for the Gary charter school.
Moving from 3A to 2A (7)
Indianapolis Howe, Indianapolis Manual, North Putnam, Rensselaer Central, South Vermillion, Southmont, Woodlan.
Moving from A to 2A (3)
Fort Wayne Canterbury, Irvington Prep Academy, Riverton Parke.
Canterbury has been extremely successful the last few years at 1A.
