Our regional previews continue with a look at the 3A class.
Site: Kankakee Valley
Teams: Bowman Academy, Andrean, Twin Lakes, South Bend St. Joseph
Top college prospects: Davon Dillard, Justin King, Arthur Haggard, Greenan Sullivan
Trevor Andershock's pick: Bowman Acdademy
Jeff Schoenle's pick: Bowman Academy
Apparently Bowman wants everyone to take notice of their offensive firepower, as they averaged over 102 points per game in their three sectional contests. They beat Andrean by 40 early in the year, but that was when the 59ers were still rounding into shape after their state football title. Still, 40 points is 40 points. Andrean has three players having double figures; Parker Huttel, Nick Podkul and Ben Davidson. Bowman should have their way. South Bend St. Joseph knocked off their Catholic rival Mishawaka Marian in the sectional, and they should dispatch Twin Lakes fairly easily in this semifinal. The main question for the title game is how will Bowman respond playing two up tempo games in a 12 hour time span. They did that once this year, but suffered as they lost to Ben Davis by 10 after defeating Lawrence Central in a morning contest. But look for high flying wing Davon Dillard and forward Justin King to spark the Eagles, and look for SB St. Joseph to succumb to the pressure that the Eagles can bring.

Teams: Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, NorthWood, Muncie Central, Norwell
Top 5 college prospects: Jonathan Wilkinson (Hillsdale College), Zach Zurcher (University of Indianapolis), David Vogel, Drew Shivley, Tyler Arens
Trevor Andershock's pick: NorthWood
Jeff Schoenle's pick: NorthWood
Bishop Dwenger is rounding into form after a delayed start to the season due to their football team playing in the state finals. Coach Matt Kostoff has 5 football players on his roster, including small forward/Air Force quarterback commit Mike Fiacable. Unfortunately for the Saints, this game will be played on the hardwood, not the gridiron. NorthWood's wing duo of UIndy commit Zach Zurcher and Hillsdale signee Jonathan Wilkinson will be difficult for Grady Eifert and company to handle, and NorthWood should win in a close one. Norwell made a run to state two years ago, and they take on surprise sectional winner Muncie Central.Norwell is a solid team built around David Vogel, Drew Shivley and Austin Hayden, while Muncie Central counters with senior inside-outside threat Tyler Arens and sophomore point guard Marcus Dukes. Muncie Central is a different team when Arens is in the lineup; he missed a lot of time this season. Norwell should be able to move past the Bearcats. For the title, we're both taking Northwood and their high scoring seniors versus the balance of the Norwell Knights. The regional as a whole should be extremely competitive.

Teams: Guerin Catholic, Tri-West, Crawfordsville, Edgewood
Top 5 college prospects: Aaron Brennan (IUPUI), Matt Holba, Whit Rapp, Trevor Waite, Brant Gadberry
Trevor Andershock's pick: Guerin Catholic
Jeff Schoenle's pick: Guerin Catholic
Seniors Whit Rapp and IUPUI signee Aaron Brennan want to prove their 2012 state title was not a one hit wonder, and they are poised to do so thanks to the addition of athletic forward Matt Holba. They face a Tri-West squad that features junior guard Trevor Waite as well as some nice complementary pieces, but they will be hard pressed to pull the upset against Guerin. Edgewood and Crawfordsville should be a decent game in the second semifinal, and I'll give the edge to Crawfordsville, but in a close one. Guerin will be too much for the Athenians in the nightcap, as the front line of Holba, Brennan, and senior Cris Burroughs should dominate the interior.
Site: Washington
Teams: Greensburg, Silver Creek, Evansville Memorial, Jasper
Top 5 college prospects: Bryant McIntosh (Northwestern), Sean Sellers (Ball State), Adam Eberhard, Christian Reed, Ryan Welage.
Trevor Andershock's pick: Greensburg
Jeff Schoenle's pick: Greenburg
The Pirates of Greensburg face a Silver Creek team featuring sophomore post Christian Reed and junior guards Gabe Bauer and Nick Tinsley. Silver Creek will have to wait a year for their time to shine, as Northwestern signee Bryant McIntosh, Ball State signee Sean Sellers, and junior forward Ryan Welage are as formidable a threesome as you will find in Indiana. Greensburg's average margin of victory in the sectional was over 39 points a game, and they should win easily. Evansville Memorial and Jasper face off in the second semifinal. Evansville Memorial is led by junior Adam Eberhard, who had 26 points and 9 rebounds in a season-opening 25 point win over Jasper. Jasper has a balanced team led by junior shooter Nolan Ahrens. But Memorial has too much firepower for Jasper to overcome. Greensburg should also be able to take care of Evansville Memorial in the championship game. The Pirates shoot 44% from behind the arc as a team and senior guards Macy Holdsworth and Collin Rigney will be able to stretch defenses that collapse on their big three.
