This week marked the start of tournament play in the Metro Indy Basketball Fall League. The week was highlighted by the debut of Sam Logwood. Logwood ended up with a few highlight reel tip-dunks along with overall impressive play.
The best performance of the week that I witnessed was from Tyler Alderman. Alderman had a 36 point performance in the first tournament game. He not only played a great offensive game, but he also guarded Collin Hartman. Hartman ended up with only 9 points.
Here are some other player notes:

Sam Logwood 6’5” SF Lawrence North 2014 Logwood was outstanding in the 2nd game of the day. He played with a high motor and attacked rebounds. Logwood had several impressive tip-dunks. He also showed that he could handle the ball and hit a few shots from the outside. He has all the tools to be a HM/MM prospect. I’m excited to see him play more.
Tyler Alderman 6’9” PF/C Fishers 2012 Alderman put on a clinic in both games, but especially in the 2nd game of the day. He scored 36 points in every way imaginable. He posted and scored over the right and left shoulder. He scored in transition. He stepped out and hit a couple of 3’s and he had a few put-back buckets. It was Alderman playing up to his potential. He just needs to find a way to play at that level consistently.
Eric Miller 6’7” PF Carroll (Fort Wayne) 2013 Miller is one of the players that I wanted to see more of before the league started. I still haven’t gotten a chance to watch him very much. I think he might have missed a week. He’s got some athleticism to him and can shoot it from the outside. I still need to see more of him though.
D.J. Balentine 6’3” CG Kokomo 2012 Everyone knows about Ballentine at this point. He is heading to Evansville and he led Kokomo to the state championship game last year. He has added some explosiveness to his game. He is getting a dunk or two a game in the league. D.J. should have a monster year for Kokomo this year.
Xavier Ringo 5’10” PG Brownsburg 2014 Ringo was very impressive in the 2 games Sunday. He is explosive, well-built, and can shoot it. He is on the short side, but his quickness could make up for that fact. Brownsburg will be young this year, but they will be fun to watch. Ringo needs to be on MM and LM radars.
Gary Bonds 6’5” PF Scecina 2015 Bonds has performed well all league long. Bonds is a post player right now, but he has the quickness to transition to the perimeter. He has a nice touch around the basket, good shooter to 15 feet right now, and can handle the ball a little bit. It will be interesting to see if he continues to grow and to see if he transitions to the perimeter.
Sean Howard 5’9” PG Lawrence North 2013 Howard is a flat out basketball player and competitor. He knows how to play the game extremely well. He is ultra quick and penetrates defenses with ease. He is also a good shooter and good decision maker. Howard could help a lot of low-major programs, but he will likely being a steal for a D2/NAIA school.
Garret Hall 6’2” SG Cathedral 2013 Hall was very good today. He is a good shooter that has some athleticism. I’m not sure he is going to get much playing time for a guard-heavy Cathedral team though. With that in mind, D2/NAIA programs should keep him in mind.
Carlos Knox 6’2” SG Cathedral 2013 Knox is in the same boat as Hall. He is a good player and can shoot it from the outside, but it will be hard for him to get a ton of minutes. I’m not sure that Knox has seen a shot that he hasn’t liked yet. He is also extremely thin with a small frame, but he does have length on his side. He’s a low-major prospect.
Landon Breese 6’1” SG Alexandria-Monroe 2013 Breese is a really good outside shooter. He is also a decent athlete. He looks like he will be a solid D2/NAIA/D3 prospect.
Michael Morris 6’5” PF New Palestine 2013 Morris is a worker. He gets most of his baskets by outworking his opponents. He pursues the ball extremely well and finishes around the rim. He isn’t the best athlete. Morris is a good NAIA/D3 prospect.
Josh Long 6’4” SF Pike 2012 Long’s athleticism is what makes him productive. He also plays with a high motor. It will be interesting to see how he plays for Pike this season, but he is a D2/NAIA prospect.
