This game wasn’t very competitive so I’m just going to give player evaluations instead of a full game report. The first half wasn’t clean, but Lake Central led 34-23 at halftime. Things were close because of the play of sophomore Arnold Wilson from West Side. He was the only one making plays for West Side.
After three quarters it was still close with Lake Central up 45-36, but Wilson picked up his fourth foul early in the period. West Side just couldn’t find anyone else who could score. When Wilson was in the game, he began to force shots instead of getting the good looks that he got in the first half.
Tyler Wideman picked up two technical fouls in the second half; one for hanging on the rim after a missed dunk and the other for pushing a player after the whistle. Fortunately for him and the interested fans, he will not have to miss Saturday’s game against Hamilton Southeastern. The rule was changed after DeJuan Marrero picked up two technical fouls for hanging on the rim in a regional game. That forced him to sit out the next game in the state tournament which Bowman Academy ended up losing without Marrero. The IHSAA changed the rule so that both technical fouls have to be for unsportsmanlike behavior. The main advantage Lake Central has in the game against Hamilton Southeastern is Wideman inside. It would have been a huge blow to LC’s chances.
Lake Central blew the game wide open in the fourth quarter and cruised to a 72-47 victory. Glenn Robinson, III (Michigan signee) led all scorers with 25 points. Tye Wilburn (2014) had 15 points for Lake Central. Arnold Wilson (2014) led West Side with 17 points.

Glenn Robinson, III 6’6” SF 2012 There was no one on West Side that matched-up well with Robinson. He scored most of his points at the line and in transition. He looked great and as usual he didn’t force anything. His ceiling is still well above where his current skill level is, that is what makes Robinson so scary.
Tyler Wideman 6’6” C 2014 Wideman didn’t do much in this game despite having an advantage inside. He isn’t a very good athlete although he moves decently and it looks like he is in better shape. I don’t see him growing anymore. He is a legit 6’6” right now and he needs to improve his skill set dramatically to be a high-major prospect (Purdue offered). I see him ending up as a mid-major player unless his skills just take off.
Tye Wilburn 5’10” PG 2014 Wilburn has been injured for about the last year. He only played a few high school games last year and missed the whole summer. He is still getting back into shape, but he looked great Wednesday night. He shot the ball well from the outside and still has his quickness. I look forward to seeing him play against Jacobby Bledsoe on Saturday.
Alex Ratic 6’1” SG 2013 Ratic is a productive high school player that is mainly a shooter. I don’t see his game translating very well to the next level although he could be a nice role player for D2/NAIA/D3 programs.
Mike Miklusak 6’5” SF 2013 Miklusak is a player that grew a couple of inches and has really worked on his game. He is a good shooter and has a bit of quickness to him. I want to see more of him, but I think he has a chance to be at least a high-level D2/NAIA prospect and if he continues to develop at a high rate; a low-major prospect.
Joe Bannister 5’10” PG 2015 The freshman just got mop up duty, but he will likely work his way up to being the back-up point guard at some point in the season.
Gary West Side
Arnold Wilson 6’1” SG 2014 Wilson is a good athlete that scored most of his points in the lane. He showed a nice floater and toughness to score against contact. He will need to improve his outside shooting to be a D1 prospect though or become more of a point guard. He is in the tweener phase right now.
Regan Atkins 6’6” SF 2012 Although he wasn’t very productive, Atkins is a true 6’6” and moves well on the perimeter. His skills need to improve, but he has a lot of tools to be successful for D2/NAIA/JUCO programs.
Jare Glover 6’2” SG 2014 Glover didn’t play a ton of minutes and didn’t stand out much while he was in. It did seem like he had some physical tools to work with though. We will certainly keep an eye on him down the road.
