Fishers entered the game with a 2-1 record after losing to Kokomo in overtime on Saturday. Warren Central was 1-1 with a close loss to Cathedral and a blow out win over Franklin Central. WC is led by Indiana University verbal commit Devin Davis and Detroit signee Brent Calhoun. Fishers features athletic point guard Jaylon Brown, Jacksonville signee Tyler Alderman, and Joe Retic.
The first quarter set the tone for the whole game with turnovers and sloppy play. None of the big names were able to get things going offensively. The turnovers really took all the rhythm out of the game. Davis didn’t score and had 2 turnovers in the first quarter. His teammate Calhoun was 0-6 with all his shots coming in the paint. Fishers led 14-9 after the first period.
Mini runs dominated the second quarter. Warren Central started the quarter on a 9-3 run then Fishers immediately answered with an 8-3 run of their own before Warren finished the half by scoring the final 5 points.
The second half was similar to the first half; low scoring, turnover prone, and a lot of fouls. J.P. Pena, who was going to sit out the basketball season to get ready for baseball before deciding to play his senior year, was extremely quiet. Pena didn’t attempt a shot in the first half and only 4 shots in the game. Jaylon Brown, who has offers from American, Ohio, and Toledo, was 1-10 from the field. Tyler Alderman was 4-10 from the field for 8 points. Then Joe Retic just had 4 points and zero in the second half. Fishers won’t win many games with production like that out of their main guys.
Warren Central’s Sam Thompson and Antonio Offitt knocked down a combined 13 free-throws in the second half to seal the game up for Warren Central. WC held on for the 59-51 victory.

Fishers
Jaylon Brown 6’0” PG 2013 It seemed like Jaylon wasn’t into the game. He was very passive and rarely looked to attack the basket. Brown is best when he is getting into the lane so he can use his athleticism to finish plays. The two knocks on him for the next level are his outside shooting and decision making. Both of those areas were sub-par tonight. He has the physical tools to be a high-major point guard, but he needs to correct his weaknesses to get to that level.
Joe Retic 6’4” SF 2012 Joe struggled against Warren in just about every phase of the game. He gets out of control with the dribble at times and ends up being off balance at the basket. He is a borderline D1 prospect with a couple of reported offers on the table. He is best when he can be a role player, a hustle guy instead of having the ball in his hands each possession.
Devin Chaudion 6’2” SG 2014 First good look at Chaudion for me. It looks like he has a chance to be a pretty good player. He needs more strength to be a D1 prospect. Chaudion didn’t look very explosive off the dribble plus his release was on the slow side. Low-majors should have him on their radars.
C.J. Johnson 6’3” SF 2013 Mainly a shooter, didn’t get to concentrate on him very much. Looks like he is heading towards the D2/NAIA level.
Sean Lonergan 6’5” SF 2013 Long, skinny shooter almost like 2011 Fishers graduate Ryan Rebholz who is now playing well from D2 St. Joe’s College.
Warren Central
Jordan Garnett 6’4” PF 2014 Garnett has always been a high-motor guy that gets his points off of rebounds. Tonight, he showed a little bit more of a perimeter game. He will need to be a small forward at the next level, so it is good to see that part of his game is improving. Garnett has had a bit of an attitude problem, but it rarely shows on the court where he is always working.
Sam Thompson 6’1” PG 2013 Thompson has played well against tough competition so far this season (Cathedral and Fishers). He has nice size and built at the point guard position while also being quick. Outside shooting is a weakness, but he is solid in all other areas. He is in the low-major plus category now.
Jamal Bridges 6’3” SG 2013 Bridges isn’t flashy, but in the two games I’ve seen so far this season of Warren, he has produced. He is strong and a very good athlete. Bridges can likely play at a lot of D2/NAIA schools.
Charlie Dant 6’1” SG 2012 Big-time shooter that can do a little bit of everything else as well. I’ve heard that he is a good baseball prospect, but I haven’t confirmed that with him. {/iACL}
