The Indy Legacy showcase at Indianapolis Tech brought many great Illinois prospects over to compete against Indiana high school teams. We saw players from Providence St. Mel, Proviso East, Morgan Park, Chicago Orr, and Chicago Curie. Here notes and evaluations from 19 players from those teams.

Cliff Alexander, 6’8” PF 2014, the big fella was out played by Trey Lyles in pretty much every way. His wingspan is very impressive. 6-8, but has a 7-2 wingspan…+6 is pretty rare. He is very raw on the offensive end, but his touch isn’t bad. He doesn’t have any face-up skills yet, but his release and rotation look good from line. He runs the floor pretty well. Alexander can really attack a rebound with his strength. He definitely has great potential, but he has a ways to go to be a top 5-10 player in the country at the end of his senior year.
Sterling Brown, 6’5” SF Proviso East 2013 (SMU), has a good frame and good length. He definitely is not the same type of athlete as his brother, Shannon. Sterling is a decent athlete though. He was extremely efficient against Marian. Brown finished with 17 points on 9 shots.
Paris Lee, 5’11” PG Proviso East 2013(Illinois State), didn’t look to go to the basket except in transition. Everything in the half court was a spot-up 3.
Jevon Carter, 6’2” SG Proviso East 2014, showed good shooting range and also has the ability to score around the basket. Good overall athlete as well. The game MVP finished with 19 points on 11 shots.
Kalin Fisher, 6’2” SG Proviso East 2015, scored mainly off of drop-off passes. The sophomore didn’t show much else, but was consistent finishing at the rim.
Branden Jenkins, 6’4” SG Proviso East 2013, great length, good frame to add muscle easily. His shot looked smooth, but did not shoot it particularly well against Marian.
Marlon Jones, 6’7” PF Chicago Orr 2014, did not play. Possibly was suspended.
Tyquone Greer, 6’6” SF Chicago Orr 2014, was very unproductive. He is a very good athlete, but wasn’t a factor on the boards. His shot looked pretty good in terms of form, but he only attempted a couple of shots.
Louis Adams, 6’4” SG Chicago Orr 2014, long, lanky scorer that also showed off big-time jumping ability on a transition finish. His shot has no rotation, but he was consistent against Warren Central. He definitely looked like a D1 prospect with his athleticism and scoring ability.
Billy Garrett, Jr. 6’5” PG Morgan Park 2013 (DePaul), struggled to make shots, but his form looked very smooth from the outside. He was also able to beat his defender with a series of dribble moves with ease. He just was not finishing at the basket when he got relatively easy chances. Finished with 28 points.
Kyle Davis, 6’0” PG Morgan Park 2013 (Dayton), Davis is the definition of explosive. His first step and his jumping ability were off the charts. He was aggressive and strong when he went to the basket. He went 0-3 on his outside shots and just 5-8 from the free-throw line.
Lamont Walker, 6’5” SF Morgan Park 2014, was relentless on the boards against Lawrence North. He was a major factor in Morgan Park’s victory. They never ran plays for him; he just went and got offensive rebounds then finished the play himself. Good athlete and great motor. I had him 4-5 from the line, but he did not take any shots outside of the lane.
Josh Cunningham, 6’7” PF Morgan Park 2014, very similar to Walker, but not as many offensive rebounds tonight as Walker had. He was always around the basket and was a very good rebounder.
Xzavier Taylor, 6’9” C Morgan Park 2013, great frame, decent strength, and looks to be a pretty good athlete. He is just completely raw with his skills. He would be a project for any D1 level.
Charlie Moore, 5’8” PG Morgan Park 2016, freshman was not afraid to bomb it from deep. I had him 2-5 from beyond the arc. A couple of them were 25 feet or deeper.
Alonzo Chatman, 6’7” PF Morgan Park 2016, another freshman for Morgan Park. He did not get a lot of playing time, but he rebounded at a high-rate when he was in. He will be a player to watch down the road.
Anthony Mosley, Jr., 6’1” SG Providence St. Mel 2015, quiet first half, but stepped up especially when Tevin King went out with an injury. He is long and smooth. He is not really explosive, but his length makes him sneaky quick. He was able to get to the basket against Brebeuf whenever he wanted. I do not remember him shooting outside of the lane. The sophomore definitely has a chance to be good though.
Tevin King, 6’2” SG Providence St. Mel 2014, solid quickness along with good upper body strength made King a force going to the basket. His outside shot looked average. His game was cut short due to a knee injury in the third quarter.
Khalil Small, 6’2” SG Providence St. Mel 2013, power guard much like his teammate Tevin King. He showed solid lateral quickness and seemed to be a good defender. First impression of Small was D2/NAIA prospect. {/iACL}
