Last season Johnson was the sixth man for the 17-4 Panthers. He took a back seat to Bo Calhoun and the other seniors. "Coach (Chad) Johnston was like you have to step-up this year. This is your year. You have to score the ball," said Johnson. He definitely scored this year. He averaged more than 21 points per game.
Johnson is focused on improving. "I'm really not consistent shooting (from the outside.). Some games I'll shoot it real well, some I'll shoot it poorly. I just don't feel consistent yet," said Johnson. If he can become a good outside shooter, his game will go to a completely different level. He is a good athlete with a very good first step that allows him to get to the basket frequently.
Johnson has no scholarship offers at this point. "I've been talking to IPFW, Northern Kentucky, Wright State, Northern Illinois and Mercer," reported Johnson. He said that he talks to Northern Kentucky and Wright State the most frequently out of that group of schools.
He will be playing for the MBA Select program once again this spring and summer. The group also features Mack Mercer, Nate Ritchie and Michael Bush. The one player that they lost from last year's roster is NorthWood's Zach Zurcher.
