I have never seen Decatur Central's LuKayus McNeil play football. But after seeing him play basketball, it is easy to imagine what type of football prospect he is.

McNeil is 6-7, 250 pounds and moves well. Those three ingredients usually equal big-time football prospect. Any thoughts of him being a college basketball prospect are quickly going out the window. McNeil now has 9 D1 football scholarship offers including Cincinnati, Louisville and Indiana. The junior will likely pick up many more football offers throughout the summer and fall as it is still semi-early in the football recruiting process.
There seems to be no doubt that McNeil's football career is brighter than his basketball future. He has some upside on the basketball court though. His offensive game is very raw, but with his size, he would have drawn a lot of college attention next season. "He’s got unlimited potential," said Decatur Central coach Joe Preda. "He averaged a double-double this year as a junior. This was only his third year of organized basketball."
McNeil also picked up track and field last year. He finished second in the state for shot put as a sophomore. That exemplifies the type of natural athlete McNeil is.
McNeil will play with Team Blaze again this summer. He certainly is not turning his back on basketball at this point even with the football scholarship offers piling up. With the graduation of Anthony Johnson, McNeil will be the top returning player for Decatur Central next season. They will be counting on him to continue his rapid improvement to be successful.
