One of the top players at the Spiece Run ‘N’ Slam (that I had personally never heard of) was Riley Norris. Norris plays on Team Thad with higher profile prospects LeRon Black and Chris Chiozza. Black is #16 in the Rivals.com 2014 rankings while Chiozza is currently #90. Norris should make a push to join them in the national top 100 after his April and May performances.
Norris has a good build that will allow him to add muscle easily. He also has good size at 6-6 or 6-7. He is a lights out shooter who does NOT need any space to get his shot off. Norris also has good quickness both laterally and off the dribble. He can use either hand around the basket. Norris will also rebound and is not afraid of contact.
Although Norris is not currently in the top 100, high-major programs are all over him. “I have offers from Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Tennessee, UAB, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Florida State, Virginia, Clemson and Kansas State,” said Norris. On Monday, Butler, Vanderbilt and Marquette also offered him. He said that he will cut his list down after July. “They are all recruiting me pretty evenly. It is wide open,” Norris said. 247 national recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer believes that Alabama is the team to beat for his services. “Riley Norris grew up an Alabama fan and I consider them the team to beat at this point,” Meyer commented on Twitter.
Norris is a native of Albertville, Alabama. This is his first year playing with Team Thad.” It’s great (playing with Chris Chiozza.) It’s always good to have a point guard who passes first and looks for the open guy. He’s real fun to play with,” Norris said about playing with the talented point guard. Team Thad will be in Orlando and Milwaukee during the “live period” in July.
