Indiana Basketball Source's number one college prospect in the 2015 class, Jalen Coleman, is transferring from Indianapolis Cathedral to La Lumiere School in LaPorte, Indiana. Coleman had a great season for Cathedral last season. He really stepped up his game down the final stretch of the season. Coleman was a major factor in Cathedral making the state championship game before narrowly falling to Carmel.
Alan Huss has quickly built La Lumiere into a national force. The addition of Jalen Coleman will keep that momentum going. La Lumiere beat traditional powers Oak Hill Academy, Huntington Prep and Montverde (FL) among others this past season. They return Sam Logwood (2014) and Johnathon Wilkins (2014) from that team. Coleman and Lucas Vezaro (2016) could be a fantastic back-court for the next couple of years. The La Lumiere staff is very high on Vezaro but he sat out last season with a knee injury. There is another wing that I have heard will be heading to La Lumiere as well. I have not heard anything official yet so I will not comment at this time.
The Cathedral staff was aware of the potential transfer. A source told me that Cathedral thought Coleman was going to end up staying at Cathedral but definitely knew the possibility of him transferring was there. Unfortunately for them that did not end up happening. Cathedral will still have a lot of talent on the roster. It always hurts to lose a high-major prospect though.
