Evansville Harrison senior-to-be Ernie Duncan has verbally committed to the University of Vermont. This comes just days after his official visit to the school. Duncan was once verbally committed to the University of Evansville. Duncan will join Indianapolis native Harry "Dre" Wills on the Catamount roster.
Duncan had offers from Ball State, Toledo and Florida Gulf Coast among others along with high-major interest. The commitment is surprising with the July evaluation coming up. He might have had a high-major school offer him during the July session.
Duncan had a fantastic USSFA Shootout two weeks ago. He is a great shooter. He uses ball screens extremely well. Duncan is also a very good passer. He sees the floor well, and gets the ball where it needs to be on time. He's usually not the quickest guy on the floor but he changes pace and direction to beat defenders. With his size, Duncan will be able to play the point guard or shooting guard position for Vermont. He is better with the ball in his hands but he is very capable playing off the ball.
Vermont was 21-12 including a win over Harvard. They lost in the America East conference finals to Albany. Vermont also has scholarship offers out to Indianapolis Tech's Jeremie Tyler and Plymouth's Mack Mercer. It looks like they are trying to tap into Indiana's talent pool, and they are off to a good start with Dre Wills and Ernie Duncan.
