The Indiana "AAU" has officially started with one day of the IndyBall event in the books. There were only three sets of games on Friday night, but there were many strong performances in those games. We also have a few other notes.

Bronson Kessinger, 6'6" F Corydon Central HS/Spiece Indy Heat 2015, was absolutely dominant in the comeback win. He finished with 21 points. Many of his points were a result of him running the floor and attacking the rim in the half court. Kessinger went down with a knee injury late in the game, but he was able to return a few minutes later. This will be a big spring for Kessinger's recruitment. He has always been versatile but never had a great skill to hang his hat on.
Trevor Waite, 6'2" PG Tri-West HS/Indiana Elite-Diesel 2015, played extremely well for Indiana Elite in all areas on Friday night. He was 3-5 from beyond the arc but was also active on the defensive end. It seemed like Waite was always on the floor for loose balls. Waite is a good athlete and it seems like he has really improved his skills from last summer.
Carter Skaggs, 6'4" SF Pioneer HS/Grassroots Indiana-Marshall 2015, did not have a monster scoring night but he scored in multiple ways. He hit a couple of 3's off the catch. Then he posted up and scored over a defender. Skaggs also caught an alley-oop and finished it over a defender while drawing the foul. If Skaggs proves that he can defend, he will be a mid-majortype of prospect.
Kyle Guy, 6'2" G Lawrence Central HS/Men of the Family 2016, was on fire from start to finish tonight. Men of the Family controlled the game and Guy was a big part of their success. He is extremely skilled at shooting off the dribble. That is a skill that you do not see often from a sophomore-to-be. Guy is also quick enough to get all the way to the basket off the dribble. It was his 3-point shot that was a killer tonight. He had an efficient 26 points while playing two years above his age group.
Eron Gordon, 6'2" SG North Central HS/Eric Gordon-Green 2016, will put up some incredible stats this summer. He will be the number one option and has an intense scorer's mentality. Tonight he had 22 points at halftime. I do not think his team will be winning any big tournaments, but they should be competitive especially when Eron plays well.
Sean McDermott, 6'4" SG Pendleton Heights HS/Spiece Indy Heat 2015, has convinced me that he is Kellen Dunham's clone. They have a similar build and physical appearance. Plus McDermott's overall game compares quite a bit with Dunham's at this point. McDermott might be a half step slower laterally. He is a very good outside shooter. He is comfortable putting the ball on the floor. A big thing for McDermott is how much more he grows.
Liam Duncan, 6'10" C Carmel HS/Indiana Elite-Diesel 2015, did not play much at all for the state champions. Duncan did not even look very promising in the junior varsity action that I saw him compete in. He showed some great shows of improvement tonight though. Duncan played with more enthusiasm which is a big change. He will be a player that we monitor closely this spring and summer.
Tyson Shumpert, 6'2" SG Warren Central HS/Club Elite Blue Chips 2015, is a new name/face for us. Apparently Sumpert did play in the sectional, but I did not see Warren Central in the sectional. He is a high-level athlete with long arms. He also handles the ball well. The biggest drawback that I saw tonight was his shot selection. He took some forced shots. He looks like he has a chance to be a D1 prospect. This was our first look at him though so we will need to see him more.
Ernie Duncan, 6'2" PG Evansville Harrison HS/Indiana Elite 2014, will miss Saturday's action due to taking the ACT as well as prom. He is expected to play on Sunday though.
Adam Kroot, 6'4" SF Brebeuf HS/Indiana Elite 2014, will miss the month of April with an injury. He is expected back in May.
Jordan Furlow, 6'1" PG Speedway HS, will be playing with Indiana Elite-Kendrick this spring.
Gary Bonds, 6'7" PF Scecina HS, will be playing with Best Choice this spring but next weekend, April 19-21, he will play with Spiece Indy Heat 2014 in the Nike EYBL event.
