These 43 player evaluations are from the 17 and under age group in the IndyBall event that took place this weekend. There were many surprises in this group including multiple freshmen.

Eric Gordon All-Stars (Green)
#11 Eron Gordon, 6’2” SG North Central HS 2016, completely dominated the first night of action. He had 22 points in the first half of the game that I watched. There are two things that will take his game to the next level. 1) Getting rid of his set shot and converting into a real jump shooter. That process is in the works, but it is a slow process. 2) Non-straight line dribble moves. He is great at sweeping and driving baseline then using his strength and athleticism to finish at the basket. He won’t always be able to blow passed defenders, he will need some dribble moves. High-Major
#3 Justin Baker, 5’8” PG Cathedral HS 2014, tough to find many quicker players than Baker. He did a good job of getting into the teeth of the defense this weekend. A big thing with Baker is not getting too deep because of his height. Low-Major/Low-Major Stretch
#25 Brad Hunt, 6’10” C Jennings County HS 2014, has always played with a great motor. He is always intense on the floor. His skill set has not matched his effort though. He has slowly improved over the years, but has never made a significant jump with his game. D2
#33 Garrett Hall, 6’2” SG Cathedral HS 2013, is likely headed to prep school. He had an offer from Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the fall.
#5 Alex Yurack, 6’4” SF Rushville HS 2016, freshman playing in the 17 year old division. He played well in the fall. I am not sure he is ready to play at this level though. He did not look completely out of place but he won’t excel.
#15 Antonio Singleton, 6’4” SF North Central HS 2016, another freshman playing in the 17U division this year for EG-Green. Singleton has a lot of talent but again probably isn’t ready to perform at a high level in this age group. He's a good athlete. He has a good frame. His shot looks good to 15 feet. I have not seen him go beyond that.
Eric Gordon All-Stars (Keeton)
#30 Bryant McIntosh, 6’3” G Greensburg HS 2014 (Indiana State), put EG on his back in their opening pool game. They came out sluggish and McIntosh really picked up the slack for them. He can score in a variety of ways. He’s also a very good distributor.
#24 Sam Logwood, 6’6” SF La Lumiere School 2014, the two things that pop out at people about Logwood are his frame and his athleticism. Those are two things that you can’t teach and he is high level in both categories. His skill set has definitely improved from THIS TIME LAST YEAR. His improvement from the end of last summer until now is getting overblown. Logwood doesn’t create for his teammates off the dribble. When he is driving he gets tunnel vision with the hoop and it doesn’t matter if help comes over or not. He has a high-major plus type of ceiling because of his size, length, build and athleticism. Mid-Major Plus right now.
#11 Tayler Persons, 6’3” G Kokomo HS 2014, I’ve never loved Persons’s college potential because he wasn’t very quick with his thick build, and he is not an elite shooter. He’s grown to a true 6-3 now. He’s a leader and finds ways to score the ball. Low-Major
#4 Joel Okafor, 5’10” PG Richmond HS 2015, could pass for an NFL cornerback with his build. He’s one of the strongest guards I’ve ever seen in high school basketball and he’s only a sophomore right now. That build and quickness makes him an excellent on-ball defender. Okafor sees the floor well and is a leader. He does get in trouble with traps because of his height. Outside shooting is also a weakness right now but his form looks much better.
#22 Zach McRoberts, 6’6” PF Carmel HS 2014, can absolutely get it done on the defensive end. He can guard posts, wings, guards…anything. He uses his length very well. He also rebounds at a high level. He’s a competitor and a big reason why Carmel has won back to back state titles. McRoberts rarely looks at the basket on the offensive end though. He has the ability to score, but he is very passive looking for his shot. Low-Major
#32 Jacob Johnson, 6’5” SF Mooresville HS 2014, looks the part with his size and length. He competes on both ends, but in the game that I saw he didn’t produce. That is the way he was last summer as well. We’ll definitely track him the rest of the spring/summer though.
Fieldhouse Elite 2014 White
#15 Seth Cox, 6’11” C New Palestine HS 2014, a true 6-11 and a wide body. He is slow though and he reacts slowly. He’s not very effective on either end of the floor although his offensive game has improved over the last year. NAIA
#1 Juwan Carpenter, 6’4” SF Ben Davis HS 2014, strong and can get to the basket. He can also defend despite what Ben Davis coach Mark James says. D3
#33 Patrick Huffine, 6’5” PF Chatard HS 2014, the best thing going for Huffine is the way he competes. He isn’t the biggest guy but he works on the boards. He can also shoot it a little bit. D3
Grassroots Indiana 2014-Bailey
#50 Trevor Lockwood, 6’8” C McCutcheon HS 2014, long. He did some really nice things on the defensive end Saturday. His offensive game is behind his defensive game though. Strength and muscle mass would help his offensive game greatly. NAIA
#35 Chandler Kemp, 6’5” PF Westfield HS 2014, was good this weekend. Active on the glass on both ends. He’s an okay athlete, solid build. He also hit a couple mid-range jumpers. NAIA or D3
#4 Tyler Bryant, 6’1” SG Center Grove HS 2014, can really shoot it off the dribble well. He has a quick release and is consistent with his motion. He didn’t handle the ball much but when he did, he looked capable. He could be a point guard option at the NAIA or D3 level.
#21 Alex Sibila, 6’4” SF Zionsville HS 2014, does damage on the offensive glass but needs to expand his overall game. Good frame, good leaper just isn’t consistent right now. D3
#14 Carter Van WanZeele, 6’4” SG Avon HS 2014, one of the best shooters in the 2014 class. He has a quick trigger. He’s not a bad athlete. He can do a little bit off the dribble. NAIA
Indiana Bobcats
#5 Quadre Lollis, 6’4” SF Lawrence North HS 2014, played very well Saturday. He competes on both ends. He rebounds at a high level despite only being about 6-4. He’s a good leaper and looks to attack the basket. Lollis is also a capable catch and shoot guy to the 3-point line. D2/NAIA
Indiana Elite-Kendrick
#33 Kaleb Ferrell, 6’3” SG Franklin Central HS 2014, great frame, good size, good athlete. He is best when he is getting to the best and can use his athleticism to finish the play.
#25 Malik Bennett, 5’11” PG Southport HS 2015, small and stocky. Aggressive on ball defender and can create off the dribble. He is just a sophomore playing in the senior-to-be division.
#2 Jordan Furlow, 6’2” PG Speedway HS 2014, one of the best athletes at the game position in Indiana. He is quick with the ball and on the defensive end. He can also explode off of the floor. Furlow just needs to be more consistent with his effort and focus. Low-Major
#12 Akim Nyang, 7’0” C Mooseheart Academy (IL) 2014, thin and limited offensive ability. He can block shots though.
#23 Jaraan Lands, 6’5” SF Warren Central HS 2014, thick body that is very effective around the rim. He struggles when he is on the perimeter which is often because he wants to prove that he is a wing. Low-Major
Men of the Family
#5 Tyler Jenkins, 6’0” PG Hamilton Southeastern HS 2014, good handle and can use it to get into the paint. He is a good athlete and has a good frame. He gets in trouble when he tries to do too much which is often. When he plays within himself, he looks good and plays well. Low-Major
#24 Kyle Guy, 6’3” SG Lawrence Central HS 2016, was one of the standouts of the tournament in my eyes. He shot the ball extremely well but he did a lot more than just shoot it. He handles it well. He has pretty good quickness. He has good length. Guy is very good at shooting off the dribble. That is pretty rare for a freshman. He is thin right now, but it looks like he’ll be able to add muscle to his frame easily. Guy will play with the Fieldhouse Crist 2016 team at times this summer as well. High-Major
#35 Larry Johnson, 6’7” PF Hamilton Southeastern HS 2013, JUCO prospect. LEFTY. Johnson is long and athletic. Throw in the fact that he does not have grades and you have a very good junior college prospect. If he focuses on basketball for two years, he could end up as a D1 player after junior college.
#3 Andre Small, 5’10” PG Fishers HS 2016, first look at Small. He doesn’t look confident in his outside shot. He was hesitant and the stroke wasn’t smooth. He’s not overly explosive right now. He played under control and made pretty good decisions with the ball.
#32 Lucas Huffman, 6’5” SG Franklin Central HS 2014, is not a D1 athlete but he shoots it like a D1 prospect. He is also a legit 6-5 and likely closer to 6-6. He handles it alright. He isn’t going to use his handle to breakdown a defender but he can handle it to rotate the ball. D2
SYF Hoopmatics
#22 Rashaun Richardson, 6’7” F Indianapolis Tech HS 2014, broke on the scene last year at IndyBall. It was an up and down year for Richardson. He picked up a few D1 offers last summer, but then struggled to get consistent minutes during the high school season. Long. Thin. He displayed good handles for his size on Saturday. He was in full attack mode off the dribble. He’s a good athlete. Richardson is a capable shooter although his form is unorthodox. Low-Major
Bryce Lienhoop, 6’6” F Columbus East HS 2014, good size and length. He is very crafty around the basket. He displayed that on Saturday with numerous reverse lay-ups. The thing that holds him back against good athletes is the fact that he has no lift off the ground. That limits what he can do. I have not seen him score consistently away from the basket over the last two years.
SYF UpTempo
#33 Jalen Morgan, 6’7” C Pike HS 2014, long and thin. His offensive game is improving slowly. He’s too thin to be a real force around the basket.
#3 Xavier Ringo, 5’10” PG Brownsburg HS 2014, quick and aggressive. Ringo is always looking to attack the basket. He sees the floor well. His outside shot and his attitude are his drawbacks.
#23 Mike Jones, 6’4” SG Indianapolis Tech HS 2014, long and streaky. He does handle it well. He’s not an explosive athlete.
#50 Dominic Dixon, 6’8” C University HS 2013, big body, good hands. His conditioning must improve to take his game up a notch. He has no left hand. D3
#21 Cory Smith, 5’11” PG North Harrison HS 2014, is one of the best shooters in the state but he looked to go off the dribble in the game that I saw him this weekend. He’s not a burner off the dribble but he can get to the basket when defenses are out of position.
Team Blaze
#20 Isaiah Gooch, 6’6” PF Bloomington HS South 2014, lots of positives to Gooch’s game but his production on the offensive end is never very high. He’s a good leaper. He goes after rebounds well. He just can’t score consistently.
#42 Erik Bowen, 6’5” PF Kokomo HS 2014, surprised me with how well he played. In the past I’ve only seen Bowen play around the perimeter. He was inside on Saturday and played with great energy and skill. He was all over the glass. He made a couple of nice back to the basket moves. He also showed some face-up moves. Bowen can shoot it from the outside as well. D2
#12 Saikou Jallow, 6’1” PG Bloomington HS North 2014, athletic. Smooth. Handles well. Solid shooter. He just never dominates. He shows flashes within each game.
#45 Zach Rower, 6’8” C Beavercreek HS (OH) 2014, wide body. Good feel in the post. He doesn’t move very well. D2
#23 Bret Barclay, 6’6” PF Crown Point HS 2014, active on the glass. He has good length. He jumps pretty well. He will screen and be physical. He would rather play on the perimeter but it looked like he was willing to play inside on Saturday. I didn’t get a great look at his offensive skill set. D2 {/iACL}
