2016 point guard Te'Jon Lucas showed his explosive scoring ability on Friday afternoon when he scored 39 points in the NY2LA Sports Next Level Invitational. His efforts led the Milwaukee Spartans from a double digit deficit to a double digit victory. We caught up with Lucas after the game to talk about his game and recruitment.

The Milwaukee Spartans were off to a slow start against the Wisconsin Playmakers Friday. That is when Lucas changed the landscape of the game. “We had to play through some adversity. I wanted to be the leader and get things started so we can get the win,” said Te'Jon Lucas after the victory. His defensive activity is what started a huge run by his Spartans team. Once he made a couple lay-ups off his steals, things began to click at a high level.
Lucas finished the game with 39 points, and his Milwaukee Spartans team cruised to a victory in the second half. There was nothing forced by Lucas even when he was on fire from the field. He is a competitor that puts winning first. There are very few times when Lucas is out of control or takes a poor shot.
The 5-foot-11 point guard is starting to see his recruitment pick up.“I just gained an offer from IUPUI and I have one from UW-M (Wisconsin-Milwaukee). I have interest from Northern Iowa, Northern Illinois, Marquette and Bucknell,” reported Lucas. The Milwaukee product received his IUPUI scholarship offer in June when he visited the school. Lucas also said that he will take an unofficial visit to Ohio during the month of August.
Currently under 150 pounds, Te'Jon Lucas knows that he needs to work on his body in order to play at the highest level in college. “I've been working on my legs trying to improve my vertical. I'm trying to get stronger because I'm not always going to be the biggest guy but I need to be physical with everyone,” said Lucas.
Te'Jon Lucas is one of my favorite players to watch in the 2016 class thus far. His toughness, energy, athleticism and shooting ability make him a fun prospect to track. Lucas also seems like a good kid with his head on his shoulders. Those characteristics make Te'Jon Lucas a very good prospect.
