Mason Degenkolb is a 5'11” guard from Tipton, Indiana. He plays his travel ball with Indiana Elite-Central. He was a consistent scorer for Indiana Elite this spring and summer. Scoring is nothing new for Degenkolb as he averaged nearly 24 points per game at Tipton as a sophomore.
Degenkolb was very efficient as a sophomore. He scored an outstanding 1.34 points per shot attempt. He was able to do that thanks to his ability to get to the free-throw line. Degenkolb shot 9.25 free-throws per game last season while knocking down 82% of them.
The rising junior as attended “elite camps” at Northern Kentucky and Indiana Wesleyan this month. Degenkolb will visit Lipscomb on September 13th. He has also had with Belmont recently which is the crosstown rival of Lipscomb.
Mason Degenkolb does not have any scholarship offers at this point. He will definitely play college basketball barring any type of unforeseen circumstances. It is just a matter of which level. In order to play at a Northern Kentucky, Lipscomb or Belmont, Degenkolb will have to be automatic from the outside. He is best going to the basket right now and those opportunities will be constrained more at the Division I level.
The 2016 prospect is poised for a monster season at Tipton. Mason Degenkolb is definitely a player colleges should be tracking like we are at Indiana Basketball Source.
