Two talented, South Bend players recently made their college decisions. South Bend Adams guard/forward Terry Davis will attend Kalamazoo Valley CC while South Bend Washington guard Traveon Johnson will play at Kentucky State - a D2 school. Here is more on both.
Both players were under-recruited. Traveon Johnson should be an impact player at Kentucky State. They were 15-14 last year at the Division II level. Johnson is a good athlete that is best when he is slashing to the basket. He is a tough defender that can check either guard position at the D2 level. Johnson will have a great career at Kentucky State if he improves his outside shooting consistency. Many D1 programs could use a player like Johnson.
Terry Davis picked Kalamazoo Valley in order to get more exposure. He is a qualifier, so he will be eligible to transfer for a four-year D1 or D2 program after next season. Davis is a versatile player. He has had to be a rebounder and post pressence for South Bend Adams because of their lack of size. He finishes extremely well around the basket because of that. He does have guard skills though. Davis is a tough slasher that is a very good athlete. He does whatever needs to be done to help his team win. Much like Johnson, improving his outside shot will help his college success.
