Caleb Swanigan has been the hottest recruting prospect in Indiana since moving from the 2016 class to the 2015 class last spring. On Friday, he announced that he has committed to Michigan State. Swanigan had a final seven schools of Arizona, California, Chicago State, Duke, Kentucky, Michigan State and Purdue.
Swanigan is a consenus top 20 player nationally in the 2015 class. He lead Homestead High School in Fort Wayne to the Indiana high school 4A title this season. He is a bruising post that has transformed his body over the last two years. His transformation says a lot about his work ethic.
Calfornia, Duke, Michigan State and Purdue were the favorites for Swanigan late in his recruitment. Michigan State was thought to be the early favorite last year. There was a lot of uncertainty late in the process, the Spartans ended reeling him in.
Swanigan is the number one ranked player in the 2015 class by Indiana Basketball Source. He played in the McDonald's All-American game and is currently participating in the Nike Hoop Summit, where he announced his decision.
He played with Spiece Indy Heat on the travel circuit. He dominated the framed Nike EYBL circuit on the glass after his freshman year. That is how he earned his reputation and his game grew from there.
